Congrats, very nice Silverburst, incredible low action (just the foto?). Good find.

Seymour Duncan SPH90-1 Phat Cat, less bottom end than Gibson P90, Humbucker size.

That´s one really nice guitar, I love it. It seems like the Custom Shop is putting out more and more really great Vs these days.
Gibson should come up with a block inlay series. White, (rev)silverburst, black and special colors.

.....and the Northeman did not fear the christian God.
The foto is awesome and the vintage V (and inlays) and your playing is what separates you from the
other so called Black Metal players.
For me a guitar is played by the heart, the hands are tools.
So, keep the Metal burning.

Welcome to the board.

Well, I don´t believe in this magnet aging thing at all. Ceramic magnets definetely don´t go weak.
All magnets can be demagnetized(up to a point), but how could that happen in a guitar pickup?

I think the phenomen of guitar pickups getting weaker is caused by the winding. It´s the same thing
with transformers getting weak during the years. There are more and more microscopic shortings
in the winding(partial short), dropping the power of the pickup (output voltage).
Another point is the winding gets looser over the years, adding/cutting frequencies and harmonics-noise,
response to the guitar´s resonance.
(Many pickups sound even better(sweeter) by dropping some amount of windings from the pickup)

Changing magnets on a new pickup with some old one (old PAF etc.) has an effect because back
then they were crafted different than today.

That´s only my opinion and others may differ.

Dirty Fingers - sounds too dirty
496R 500T - a bit on the harsh side(500T), 496R sounds great in the neck position
490R 498T - too much high mids for the V

The 500T is a good pickup (nice clean tone - overdriven it depends on the V(bright sounding V-no go->harsh sound))

Maybe you could like the 57classic plus in the bridge position.

A clean V, wiring is completely redone (bad job). I wonder why even the pickups had been resoldered.
Price is too high.
It seems to be a great white Flying V in a very good condition.

Congrats on your first Gibson V, great find. Yeah, do whatever you like.
The sound is the most important part of a guitar. I am pretty sure it rocks when it´s done.
I am pretty sure the serial is hard to read, I think it should be 83073534

Gibson serial:
Nashville Plant, TN, USA
November 3rd, 1983
Production Number: 34

Yeah, an original 83 (and real mahagony body, great).

Welcome to the board.

Awesome looking guitar, the neck is stunning and the serial is cool (I like repeating numbers).
Ebony fretboard, inlays and the binding makes this V looking great (yeah and the color is really good).
This V looks really clean without the pickguard, I like the contrast with the white parts and the red color.
Is the tuning system working great? What about the balance of neck and body(due to the weight of the tuning system)?

Congrats, brother

I am afraid you will regret it, I would. Anyway I hope it comes in god hands (maybe someone here on the V board who will post fotos every month. Would be a cool calendar for the next year, yeah)
All the best and may your dreams come true,

Robin :o)

I beg for mercy......that´s too much.
Outstanding block inlay.
The tone pot has been disconnected to get more power to the output jack.
Wolf Hoffmann did exactly the same on his Flying Vs (until he just threw the tone pot out of his guitar and used one single volume pot).
By the way, a 010 cap is more usefull than a 022. If you want some sort of hollow wah sound by rolling back the tone, try a bumble bee 010 cap.

What a beauty, awesome guitar. Great condition and just the right color. Congrats and welcome. It seems it had been refinished by Gibson?

Posted on 28-08-2009 05:28:50

It´s a Hoyer 5069S built in 1982/83 in Germany by Hoyer in Erlangen.
If it is not refinished (look under the pickguard) you have one of the rare ones. Knobs aren´t stock and the pickups were DiMarzio super distortion and DiMarzio PAF(some had 2 super dist.) (stock) with split switch (stock). Brass nut (stock).
Schaller hardware (stock).
Neck through construction (V wings glued on). Strings through body (stock).
The trussrod cover is missing and it´s creme white with 5069S written on it. You have nearly no chance to get it used (rare).

Hey Sebastian, you have that dakota red all over your body, lol.

Great video of you and your Flying V in action. Keep melting the Metal.

Great fotos and always good seeing 2 Flying Vs ready to rock.
The white finish is awesome.
