My friend Louis who plays bass in my band (Unknown Artist, shameless plug) inherited a Flying V from his girlfriends uncle that has no accompanying info/paperwork. Her uncle has brain cancer and is in such poor state that he cant communicate anymore, let alone play guitar. So, Louis ended up with a Gibson Flying V about which we know nothing. Its a 67-style V, with a mirror pickguard. It looks like a Lenny Kravitz model, but it has no tremolo and the pickups have exposed coils. It looks to be brand new, all original (i dont think the pickguard was added aftermarket, cuz the screws look immaculate) but ive never seen or heard of a model like this. I dont have access to it myself, so i dont know what the serial 3 is, nor can i get at the electronics to see what kind of pickups it has. Its a fuckin wet dream come true, though, can anyone help?

My 1981 Silverburst had a mirror pickguard when I bought it new... We need more info to help you, I think... Serial # would be VERY helpful

There was a Mirror Pickguard V and Explorer made just a couple of years ago, in fact (which would explain something that looks brand new)

that being said, pictures and/or seriel # would get us alot closer to knowing accurately what it is.

Isn't that the Carbon Something-or-other? I believe what they have is a Limited Edition Model 67 RI with the Mirror Guard and Truss cover that was made a couple years ago. The guard was regular size.

thats probably what it is (limited issue 67). My buddy isnt getting back to me with the SN, i guess he doesnt realy care what kind of guitar he has, but when i first saw it struck me as not a regular production V. I thought it might have been a Lenny Kravitz at first, but I looked it up and its not. C'est la vie. its still nicer than my Epiphone V
