Dago Red and myself are working on a schedule for next year. We have a friend that is in the advertising business helping draft proposals to sponsors and tracks. We have made a tentative list of track that have shown interest in having us race at their facilities and some that we think we could draw a crowd to come watch us race.Abilene Raceway Abilene, Texas(1/8 mile) This track is next to Dyes Air Force Base and draws big crowds. Very nice small track.Mo-Kan Raceway Joplin, Mo. (1/8 mile) Good track, makes it easier on the Missouri bunch for a change too!Cherokee County Raceway Rusk, Texas (1/4 mile) Very nice track. The track owners are great people and have done a great job building this out of the way track.Houston Raceway Park Houston, Texas (1/4 mile) Good track, when prepped...... Could be a return visit to the Lone Star Shootout.Tulsa International Raceway Tulsa, Ok. (1/4 mile) Good track ( too damned hot in June! ) Possible return to the Tulsa Roadsters fuel meet.Red River Raceway Shreveport, La. (1/4 mile) Never been there.......Texas Raceway Kennedale, Texas (1/8 mile) Good track with good bite. Could be a tie in with the BHRA Nationals here..... their own nostalgia race. Maybe we could get Cindi to race her dads (Bill Hielscher) Corvette in NMC?Pine Valley Raceway Lufkin, Texas (1/4 mile) Seen lots of photos of this track.... very nice looking! Don't know much more than that.San Antonio Raceway San Antonio, Texas (1/4 mile) Good track to draw spectators from Austin too!Redline Raceway Caddo Mills, Texas (1/8 mile) Probably the nicest 1/8 track in Texas. Great people at the track, nice facilities. We are also working to get sponsors for each race. That means we get paid to race! We will also try to provide the racers an event tee shirt at each race. We are going to guarantee a minumum of 8 cars per class so we will need some people that can and will race at as many events as possible. We may look into double eliminations format to extend the program also..... give the spectators more chances to see us! (just thoughts..... input is valuable)How many races should we try to schedule? 5,6 more?Unless things change between now and next season, we will not use Contengiency Connection next year. If we were to find a corporate sponsor that would want to pay the fees for it, things could change.Where are the GM racers? That is something we had a big shortage of this past season. George..... build you a NSS or NMC car and come down and play!If anyone has any thoughts or ideas..... let us know. This is all being done for YOU so your input is valued and higly appreciated!

Don't go silly on me 'Beard, two classes are gonna be enough work. But ya know if we drafted Tony and Big Brian to work up a "Nostalgia MP and/or Gas class" it would darn sure draw some interesting cars..............RICK

    Reply to : Old Hippie

I remember Mike "The Hippie" Mitchell. I remember he later had "Impeach Nixon" on the back of his car in 73-74.

I remember that car well....... There was a guy named Mike Miller that ran funny car in the early 70's also.

    NOT ME!

I got an email this morning from D&M Promotions. It looks like they want us back next year and have a tentative date of October 21-22, 2006 set. There is a NHRA Divisional race at Thunder Valley the week before so they are trying to schedule around that race.

Nostalgia Gas Coupe...... makes my head swim.

That could be a neat class open to just about anything built up to 1969. Run what ya brung index style. Not too sure about dragsters and altereds..... maybe later.

What would make it a gas coupe...... lets see.....

Any motor in any car pre 1969. Glass, Lexan, aluminum interiors, injectors, blowers, hair driers. NO ALCHOHOL! NO NITROUS! NO ELECTRONICS! NO TRANS BRAKES! Indexes ranging from 8.50 thru 11.50. Maximum 10.5W tires. Radiused wheel wells accepted. Engine setback allowed (front spark plug even with axle centerline maximum), firewalls relocated. 4 links, ladder bars, coil overs, straight axles (encouraged) and chopped tops!!!

Must be capable of getting sideways on Casler slicks

Tony, we had bandyed around the idea of a "Nostalgia Modified" or "Classic Gas" based on the old Modified Production eliminator. The general crux was no tube chassis cars and nothing newer than 1969. Also front engined dragsters and roadsters with 100" wheelbase or less were included.  As soon as we figure out how to walk we could see if we can run with it. Stay tuned. Hey Mike, I already have something on paper for a class like this, I'll bring it by.................RICK

Mike, I would love to race with the Outsiders. So do you think there is a chance of having an Open Comp class at the Outsider events? Maybe just a Nastalgia Open Comp (NOC) class that way you will still have the nastalgia cars there. I know of 3-4  cars local that would run in that class that do not meet the requirements for NMC or NSS classes. The classes could be set up on the same principles as the other classes with the indexes. Kick it around and see what you think.

Mike, I need to double check, but I thought Mo-Kan was a 1000 ft. And I agree heartily about Redline, but has Jerry said any more about expanding the pit area? It's always been a bit on the too small size.

Any tracks that can put up a decent prize package for NSS and NMC -- and just the 1/4 mile tracks that won't throw any money our way.

I've given my more detailed opinion on www.moparstyle.com in the racing forum in a thread titled Texas Tracks
