How COOL is Katy K's?

And if she was in, how COOL is Katy K?!

That's probably my favorite store in the world (that doesn't sell guitars anyway    )

You didn't also walk out with one of Porter Wagoner's suits or a nice H BAR C by chance did you?

Katy K and her shop are the coolest. I went to college in jackson, tn and my (now ex) girlfriend and I would make the 2 hour trip to nashville just to go there. She had this one shirt with sequined dice on it I wanted so bad but it think it was around $500. Maybe one day....

I am all about the H Bar C and Katy has a PLETHERA of 'em in a amazing condition. I'm a cheapskate though and her shop is unfortunately nothing but good eye candy for me...the only thing I'll spend more than $20 on is either a guitar, an amp, or something to make those things better

I bet that dice shirt was hot! Someday...someday

You know...if she turned that back room into a guitar shop I don't think I'd ever leave...and she's too sweet to kick me out!

Gawd Mandy, we think alike so much it scares me. I've been OBSESSED w/ cowboy shirts all week. I can't afford any of the vintage nudie/turk/h-bar-c stuff i want, like the stuff at KatyK's. I decided on a Panhandle Slim here locally. it is black garbardine w/ turqouise yokes,  black and white rope piping, diamond snaps, and black embroidered bull heads breathing yellow roses. WOW! is it flashy. think it will go w/ my gold sparkle guitar??????? i'm splurging for a upcoming show.

kinda like this

or this

Johnny, we have so much in common I think my husband is praying to the LORD we never meet in person

I've got a whole closet full of H Bar C shirts and the only one I've payed a hefty fee for is this one :

The Royal Flush H Bar C gets crazy high and I snagged this one from Katy because it was in such good condition. It's in SUCH good condition I've thought about selling it or trading it for some other vintage western shirts because I'm almost scared to wear it! I'm a total clutz and the first night I wore it to a show I knocked my drink into my lap and it still smells a bit like rasberry vodka

Here's another H Bar C - I think I gave like $10 for this one. Thrift shops are our friends!

The shadow in that picture is of a Porter Wagoner figurine that's always on my amp to keep me company

You guys are so dang cool...I want to hang out and play guitar with you guys!!!

Man, you guys are crazy for cowboy shirts like the tourists are crazy for aloha shirts....hehe. The rich ones go for the vintage silkie ones, which gets crazy money. I'll keep my eyes peeled for cowboy shirts, probably not as much in demand here anyway. How much are they worth so I know?

Butnut...you want to talk about lots of Hawaiian shirts...at the NAMM show in Nashville this year EVERYONE expect me, Danny, and maybe six other people were wearing Hawaiian shirts. I have no idea what the deal was, but I SWEAR I've never seen so many in the same room - even at a store! It was just a huge flood of 'em - I was supposed to meet up with a guy from the GDP and he told me he'd be wearing a tan Hawaiian shirt and khaki pants...little did he know, he absolutely did NOT stick out in the crowd and we never found eachother

Your typical half way fancy vintage H bar C can be had anywhere from $10 - $100 depending on condition. The fancier they are the more money they fetch and like anything else, the better condition they're in the more money they're worth. California Ranchwear, Turk, NUDIE, MANUEL, and Threads of the stars are some names to look out for.

Johnny Atomic - check out Scully too. They're making some real nice H bar C style reporduction shirts that look REALLY nice. I've never seen one in person but in the Drysdales catalog they look great. I'll do some searchin' online and see if they have a website.

mandy, those shirts are too cool. i got 3 western shirts this week, a yellow stripe w/ roses, the nudie style, and the fender strat cowboy shirt.

monsukefiend, that is the same cuffs and piping as the one i bought last night.  but mine is turq and black.  it is too cool.  BTW, it is not gabardine afterall, but 35/65 like a workshirt.

i also got this one yesterday too. i ordered it, then sent it back, and got another one. i wear an XL.  when i got the first one, it was WAY too little, so i sent it back and got a 2xl and it is still too small, but i'm keeping it, hoping i can wear it soon. for anybody intersted, buy one TWO sizes bigger than you normally wear.

If I had the money I'd dress like Dale Evans every day of my life

Johnny, I LOVE that Fender shirt! How big is the chest (    ) on the XL? Is it normal for the shirt or cut small? I gots to get one of those!

A company that is making nice short and long sleeve western shirts is Rustler. And they're maybe $15 or less brand new - I'm wearning a multi color plaid right now and it's a good fit and a great quality shirt for the money. There's a Lee Jean Outlet store here in Missouri that sells the Rustler brand and I normally stock up - Johnny if you're into the plaid not as fancy westerns too, gimme a hollar. These go up to a 3XL and they're all pretty true to size, great shirts for the moolah and at that Lee Jean Outlet place they're only $12...ya can't beat that!

Johnny, you gotta post pics of the ones you bought man, I'm dyin' to see 'em!

BTW mandy, last night i saw the store had 4 or 5 really cool girls shirts on the clearance rack in the 18 to 28$ range. i don't know what size you wear but most were L and XL. they had a super cool red one w/ white yokes, rope piping, and embroidered flowers for mid 20's$. couldn't talk my fiance into getting one.

i went to branson this weekend and picked up two pair of super pointy toe boots w/ no tops (shoe boots?) for $10 a pair.  this was at a going out of business sale. one pair basic black the other SNOW white.

With button up shirts I normally wear a large, but depending on the chest measurement of the shirt I sometimes have to get an XL or womens 2X. Those sound really cool! I'll shoot you an e-mail when I get home.

BRANSON?! Right now I'm like an hour and a half from Branson, we would have driven up and met ya guys there. If you're going back anytime real soon please let me know and drinks are on me!

Those boots sound real nice too! Ahhhhh Tele's and western wear...if we could just throw Danny Gatton into this somehow it'd be my dream thread

If this turns to cowboy boots I'm gonna lose my mind...

Johnny, check out these bad mo'fo's!

You pick the size and heel, for $225!!! These folks sell a lot of really killer looking boots but those are my favorites - I want these with my initials on the mule ears. White boots are the coolest, I bet the ones you just bought are cool as hell!

I've got a pair of 1940's Acme's that I've had forever that I wear the most. They're now in desperate need of a resole the heel is so worn down, they're comfy but it's about time for me to get somethin' new. I've been eye ballin' the ones above for a good while but I've been holding out in hopes of getting a pair of Aces and Spades Acme's.

These are pretty dang cool as well though - also $225.

Johnny, let's start a Porter Wagoner/Dale Evans tribute show

I wish so bad I could get Danny in a western shirt or a pair of boots...I've never seen the man wear anything except black Allstars, jeans and black t-shirts. He was even wearin' Allstars the day we got married!

Johnny, you can verily see him in this photo (I couldn't find a better one on my computer), but see Porter's legs on my amp? Do you have one of those? If you dont' I'll do my very best to get ya one and send it to you as a Christmas gift

Danny Gatton wore unadorned black pointy-toe cowboy boots on both the 88 Elmira Street  and Cruisin' Deuces covers, as well as on Austin City Limits and the Cruisin' Deuces tour. Unadorned, no ups and no extras. I guess he needed contrast with them fancy gold Teles with zircon inlays.

Sorry, Mandy, best I could do on such short notice.

I'm thinking of going down to Tijuana and get me a pair o' them fancy boots for a couple of bucks.

Well maybe I have something in common with Danny. I had Beatle boots when I was a lot younger, late 60's when it was just about passe. I loved 'em. About 2 years ago, I found a company in England selling Beatle boots. My wife bought them for my Xmas gift. Kool...I love em'. Plain and black with the kool elastic and pull hooks. Almost like you guys cowboy boots...I'm a London cowboy.

HOLY CRAP MM! That is the koolest case I have ever seen! The wrap flame and the old Ed Roth/Baron style lettering...totally nuts. I am gonna steal your idea now! That guitar and amp aint too bad either. You are the queen of kool...

Alright Mandy, you're really beginning to scare me. Are we on the same wavelength or what?????????  I was feeling froggy yesterday afternoon, so i pinstriped my super pimp leather gigbag. Your case is TOO COOL! (or should i say "HOLY CRAP!"). Looks like i'm gonna have to airbrush flames on my case as well.

so it looks like you got me beat on the case. Oh yeah, but, do you have a strap like this?????????

Ahhhhh you guys are the best  - you're just being sweet by not making fun of me for having my name on everything

Miles, you're my hero hahahahahaha! I gotta post that cover just to tie it all together hahahah

Butnut, you're stylin'! And good eye with Baron style letters - you called it!

Johnny your pimpin' gigbag and fancy strap are AWESOME! I love the stripes you did on the bag - GREAT job! Those look absolutely killer, you're really getting a good flow going. I'm still working with my old, gunky Eldorado strap - maybe it's time for an upgrade hahahha! Did you do the leather working on that yourself? If so you're my idol - if not...we should learn how to do that

I'd love to have a "TeleModder" strap like Gatton's "Telemaster" strap.

mandy, i'm sure your eldorado is plenty nice, and flashy. i was considering one those last week. i  talked to the leather guy at silver dollar city about doing a custom one w/ silver 3 peice buckle, and acorn and oak leaf tooling, he said about $125 or $150.  maybe kinda like merle haggard's strap but w/ "Johnny Atomic" on it.

I wonder if we could get a leatherworker to do a run of Telemodders straps?

The Hag!

Just reading the words Silver Dollar City makes me giggle...I love that place!

$125 would be super cheap for a high quality custom strap - I payed $135 for my Eldorado - I'd pay $125 in a heartbeat for a good quality custom! I love the white wrapping ( I don't know the technical name for that stuff) on your strap Johnny - that is KILLER. It reminds me of Waylon's and I love it!

I've been wanting to get into leather working for a few years now...but that stuff is super expensive. My mom tried to be sweet and bought me some stamping tools for Christmas...thanks, Mom but they're 1/8th inch letter stamps, not helpin' me much!

You guys buy the tools and I'll make us all straps LOL - I've got the time and the dedication hahaha! I'm working on a fancy western shirt for my pop right now. He's doing a Branson style music show in Steelville, MO and I've got half of his name embroidered on the back so far. My first attempt at emboidery! When it's finished I'll post photos...if I posted them right now you'd all tell me to give it up hahaha

I would be alllllll over a TeleModder strap - I'm definitely in! If I had a Charlie Christian beltbuckle, the red shirt, and a Telemodder strap I'd feel like the coolest kitten on Earth heehee!

Tele295 - if you ordered up a pair of custom boots from that place in El Paso (around $250) I bet they could embroider some pinstripe style threads on the tops like Johnny's pimpin' bag...you guys sure get the wheels spinnin!

295, i don't know why you couldn't paint pinstripes on boots. heck that's givin me ideas.

Mandy, my friend Beth made my strap, she charged me about $200 for mine a couple years back. that stuff is called whip stitching if it goes around the edge, as far as i know. there are different names for all the different kinds of stitching, you need to ask a boot person or saddle maker to make sure.

we had a blast at silver dollar city watching the hot club of cowtown in the morning, and rode rolly coasters all afternoon.

Ok, it's too late to paint right now, but I taped off the front of the case, penciled in my design (kept it kinda similar to Mandy's kool kase) and Sharpied it in. Cut out with an Xacto and the stencil is ready. The Butnut letters is just Sharpie, I'll probably freehand it with One Shot after I paint the flames. I bought the Krylon 'cause it dries fast on plastic...so it says...I'll see. I hope I can 'mist' it like an airbrush to blend the red into the yellow to make orange. The green 3M tape looks kinda kool with the black flames..kinda BeetleJuice After I pull the tape, I'll 'pinstripe' it with my new silver Sharpie...haha, cheater.

What really amazes me about this place is the artistic talent many of you have. It's all I can do to paint a wall one color, yet alone all these fancy flames and stripes and letters and embroidery and stuff. Now I can bolt stuff on, gimme a drill and a screwdriver and I'm ready to go, but y'all have something special.

Holy crap! Dude, you did a KILLER job on your flames! I really suck with flames, I can't get that shape down. I love the in and out flames...but forgedabout it that's just way over my head. I love how you put Butnut on it too instead of Brian - I love it!   That alone made my day LOL! You know, I really like it the way it is! I know you can't leave it like that hahahaha but I think it looks COOL!

You guys wanna see crazy...I'll post a picture soon of our TOILET SEAT.   Flames...pinstripes...wacky lettering... cards and dice...and a few oh so 60's boomerang's. It's so crazy it's almost embarrassing. That was all Danny's idea - when he wanted it done I said "Dan...this is going to be really embarrassing when folks come over that we dont' know real well...". He looked at me in all seriousness and said "you should never be embarrassed of rock 'n roll, honey..."    INSANE.

Wattage - those boots are SICK! Holy crap, I can't even imagine how long that would take to do - and you'd look good in 'em buddy!

Allright Wattage, looks kool. Another member in the flamed kase klub! I see some airbrush pots there...I really wanted to use the airbrush, but did'nt wanna risk lacquer on Tolex. The Krylon (new type?) said plastic and rubber so I figured it will work. It did and dried fast. I tried to finese the spray like an airbrush using torn paper to mask/blend in the red to make orange which I did'nt have. Shot white first and left it on the bottom for the classic flame colors. Yellow next half way up, heavy red at the tips down. Blended better than I expected using short half bursts from the rattle cans and staying way back. I even frosted the tips with a litle yellow and white. The silver Sharpie is awesome. Flows like paint a nice even 1/8"...saved me hours of hand striping...I love it. Worked so well, I used it for my name. I uppercased the 'B' and wondered what looks wrong...DOUH! I lacquer thinnered it off and corrected it. My wife thinks the upper flames are 'crab claws' me too now...oh well, it's all kool. Played the Tele-Gib after I finished...it blows me away, I was jamming to Led Zep and the tone was bad to the bone. I'm sticking Goldie in this case now...

No rush on the pic Mandy...when ya can. I may just do a Sharpie doodle on my old seat for practice.

Here's the original uppercase 'B'...douh!

Bought some red one-shot this morning, and outlined the flames. still pursuing a few more ideas, so i'll post more pics when i get closer to being finished. the red really makes the blue/silver/yellow flame job POP!

That bag was really easy to tape off. it is a VERY stiff real leather bag.  it is top grain cowhide. stiff like work boots or a saddle. it is thick fur lined. a nice bag. funny story. i got them to throw it in at a pawn shop w/ a squier strat. later that day, i looked up that bag in the levy's catalog. it is $369 MSRP (HOLY CRAP!).  even discounted it would cost  about $300 in a store.  so what do i do, i paint it.

BTW this thread is the best ever, Western wear, stripes, flames, danny gatton, beatle boots, if we could somehow manage to work in a telecaster, it would be almost perfect ;-)

i pulled a few lines.

outlined the flames in red one-shot,

then I threw red glitter into the wet one-shot.

still gotta work out a way to put my name on it.

whoa Johnny. You are the wildest cowboy I know. I saw a guitar body sprinked with glitter and cleared over, that red really pops now.
I got kase fever now. Just picked up gold and chrome Krylon, gonna do some Roth scallops on my nekkid kase. Wattage sent me some kool ideas for metalflake Naugahyde wrap and diamond tuck padding for a case...now if I can only figure out how to re-rivit that hardware...see what ya started MM?

Dig those yellows! That's interesting - I'm used to 'em being red but I like it! This thread is just the best...hot rods, pinstripes, flamejobs, western shirts, Danny Gatton, cowboy boots...THIS is the thread that forces all others to live in the shadows! ...except guitar porn...

Here's the case I had done up for my '64 Tennessean...I sold that guitar to fund a Tele and unfortunately the case went with it - I was much sadder losing the case than I was the guitar hahahaha - please don't pay attention to my damn shoes in the background...shoes by the door is a REALLY bad habit of mine

Yup, great thread with all kinds of goodies. I would have never thought of painting my kase if I had'nt seen your's. Now everyone is doing it! How kool is that. Now tell me, what kind of fabric is lining that Xcase of your's. Looks interesting. I can really get into kustomizing kases, cause it's so low brow and pretty quick, I'm gonna have to find some nice fabric and do something nuts.
My other case is all masked up and I'm gonna pencil in the scallops tonight. I have 2 Ed Roth books with killer pics to get my mojo goin'...he sure was a genius. It's kool to see how unperfect his striping was, I see so much of his lines straying off if I look real hard, but that's the beauty of his flow. Some stuff is just insane and the drawings are out of this world crazy. He changed all the rules and made Kustom Kulture what it is.

Gawd do i want a roadster like that. only black primer w/ red wheels, with a tele in the seat. and maybe a tube amp mounted in the dash.

BTW, have you seen that funny shaped guitar book on danny ferrrington. he did a red explorer shaped acoustic for Carlene Carter. The case was the coolest w/ black and white faux dalmation fur lining.

OH YEAH !!!

The material was this fuzzy (the brand was called 'fun time' LOL) thick faux leopard fur stuff that was super hard to work with - I had my friend Dave (Seatcover Dave is his nickname haha!) do it, it was just crazy hard. He ripped out the cases existing liner and completely reupholstered it because the stuff was so thick. It did add a lot of extra padding to the case, but if I was going to do it by my lonesome I'd get a thin dark fabric and go over the existing liner - I ain't got the skills to get all fancy like that haha

I've been wanting to get my flame case reupholstered and what I'd like to have is glitter red and glitter white tuck and roll. Someday...someday!

You Guys!

When I got my Annie, the original owner had spray painted the case white. I suppose in some attempt to make a cowboy case. After looking at it's Kryloned up exterior awhile back, I decided to make it a little more tacky.

Not as sophisticated as you guys but I freehanded flames in Black Magic marker and did a rendering of the king playing his J-200 on it. Clear coated it with Krylon. I get enough comments on the case. And then I pull out this 2 tone green guitar

My JD Tele used to reside in a Krylon Gold w/ Krlon flat black flames jobber.

And to top it off, proudly emblazoned on it was "Red Army Overdrive, Superstar Guitar Hero"

I wanna decopauge the back of the Annie case. No, I'm not kidding!

Johnny - primer black with red wheels is how I'm going my 52 Chevy F-1 pickup right now. I'm also thinking of adding red pinstipes, a la that Fender Custom Shop lunchbox they have now.

Now the BOOTS I ordered the other day are gonna get white pinstripes! (Y'all make me do the craziest things).

Mandy - I have some of that leopard print fabric, not plush like yours, just a print. It makes a good photo background as you have seen. But I'm itching to do something crazy with it. Line a case? .................................REPLACE THE GRILLCLOTH ON A VIBROLUX REVERB????? Um, yep.

brian, your case is awesome. i helped a buddy scallop his nissan truck once. although i think the fender logo needs to be done in 60's style / firetruck gold leaf with the turnings ;-)

295, i love the round look of those early fifties chevy pickups. i'm really getting into that black primer look. when i do a hot rod, i don't want it too nice. the last thing i want is a vehicle i'm scared to drive, i want to enjoy it. i know people who are way to uptight about their paint, and stuff. kinda like my minty 59 red 6119 gretsch that i sold.  it was knocked out gorgeous, but i was scared of scratching it. so, i kept that ugly green annie instead.

Watt, thanks for passin' that one on - BAD ASS!

Almost everybodys hotrod in the 'Rockets is primer black w/ red rims - was the 'the thing' in the day? Because I like 'em shiney! Primer is finer I know it's true, but I want to be able to SWIM in that gloss!

295 - you know I gotta see pics of that pickup! Trucks are the best...I'd take a '53 Ford pickup over any classic car (well...except maybe a '59 Eldorado...it's that Elvis thang!)

You guys are having a huge effect on me too, damn it! I just ordered these and I REALLY don't need any more boots!  :

hehe, good question Mandy. In the old days, just slightly ahead of my hot roddin' time, primer kinda made a staement that all your money was thrown into the engine...making it go faster as well as trannys and gears, so you took a beater car, modded the guts to 'hot rod' it, and gave it the poor mans paint job...primer. I love a killer paint job, but the dull look is very kool on the right vehicle. I drive my '68 Datsun wagon with red primer over 10 years like that...until someone crashed into me. The insurance company 'totaled' my ride, but because the interior, motor, wheels etc were cherry, they gave me $1600.00 on a car that had 0 blue book. I bought it back as a wreck from them for 200 bucks, towed it to a body shop who repaired and repainted it for $1200.00. I finally had a sweet baby blue enamel paint job. I cherried that wagon out and spent more money on the engine, tranny and chrome...hehe
Actually primer is very bad as an exterior 'paint'. It's porous and meant to absorb/bond with a top coat of paint. Dirt, oils, grease are absorbed by the primer, as well as water...unless you're using HOK 2 part epoxy primer. I have used a 'flattening agent' to dull the sheen of colors, mixed with black, you get flat black, This shot over the primer will look like primer, but protect like paint...and no waxing! My oldest son will be into cars soon, he could be a rice boy or greaser...he likes both and so do I...either way, I'll be getting dirty fingernails...again.
Hey Johnny, so, my fake silver leaf lettering did'nt fool ya eh? I used the Sharpie and spun it to make little circles like they do with leaf. I tried leafing once with fake gold (the real 18K stuff is pricey) and I may get back into it as it's very much in vogue with the kustom paint scene.
Nice 'roach stompers' Mandy...do they call them that?...something about killing a roach in a corner or something like that. eeeeeeeeehaw!
Hot Roddin' in France? Kooooool. Gearheads unite!

Wow, i'm choked up. I didn't know about paul. I'm gonna really miss him. He was the first big hero that i got to really know on a personal basis. I really liked him. I have a friend (brent best in slobberbone), who refuses to meet his heros. He says it only leads to disappointment. In this case this is not true. I got to hang out w/ him a few times and he was like a little kid, so full of life, not at all bitter and jaded like some hero's i've met. Paul taught me how to play train kept a rollin', and buckaroo. We talked several times about how we should do a show together. i guess we never will.

Yeah, I'm really bummed about Paul too...I know these guys are gettin' up in age and it's inevitable, but it sure breaks my heart when they go. Here's one of my favorite pics - that's the Dual Pro we bought from Scotty and to see them all hangin' out and pickin' with beer cans, an ashtray and coffee cups on the amp just really makes me smile! Paul looks pretty dang happy in that picture too...I cant say the same for Scotty! LOL

295, that sounds like a real cool shirt! I have a couple of Ely's and like them a lot - two pink shirts with white roses on the shoulders and a plain jane plaid - good quality shirts. Keep us posted on your boots - I'm excited about seeing those pinstriped hahahaha that's the coolest! OH and the leopard print fabric backdrop in your photos is pretty cool, but that dang guitar and amp.....WHEW! That photo is still my desktop haha!

Well I finished my 'lawsuit' LP case tonight. The silver Sharpie dried out...they don't have much paint in 'em as I used 2. I remembered seeing paint pens (Japan) in the graphics store, so I bought a blue one. Worked great and really pops the flames. I used the airbrush by shooting the Kryon red into the cup...messy, but it worked to get the nice fine blending. The symetry on the last overlap was off...I found out after I pulled the tape, next time I'll dead center all the points...looks pretty kool though. One case left to do...I may just add some outline ghost flames around this design to kinda fill it in a little more, I'll lay it out with pinstripe tape first to see if I like it...

Well since this thread has gone in every direction, I thought I'd throw it back to rods since I saw this killer Duece...everything screams OTT! The killer kolor and flames, the blown motor, the profile, those white walls (dig the rear) and mags...this is a mind blower...Id love to tool around in this bad boy.

Allright, you asked for it. I took some shots of my case. It's quite crude compared to the stuff here, but check it out!

Also some shots of some guitars I own/owned including my new Guild. Sadly and oddly, no Tele content.

Hmmm, sorry, but the rev has nothing to do with it, appart from being pictured with it...

The bike is called "coop de ville" (tribute to Coop, as you would have guessed from the devil's head...), the engine is the first generation of evos (1984 with 4 gears and kick) and belongs to a swiss guy named Bernard Moix who is also a guitar freak and works for a french bike mag named "wild motorcycles".

He did mod the tele to go with his bike...which was for sale recently (the bike, I don' t know about the tele)

while we're on leather covered teles, I was thinking about making a leather covered tele with colaboration with my local leather shop, but I did some reasearch on l/c guitars and people said that they were usally dead sounding and didn't have much of the old  tele twang.  Can anyone support or diffuse this statement?

Damn, that's one modded Tele! Absolutely amazing looking, but I had the same question as Jamie...what the hell does that thing SOUND like? My instincts say that it would probably sound like you were playing it in a box, but who knows? It's certainly impressive VISUALLY!

I was just telling Miles about a friend of mine's Tele that's covered in leather - now I'll tell you guys!

I have a good buddy who's a tattoo artist here in Indy and he's the kind of guy you just have to hate...he's good at EVERYTHING! One day he walks up to Danny and says "hey man, I'm thinking about learning how to play guitar...could you teach me a little bit off stuff?" Danny says sure and shows him some of the typical rockabilly patterns and teaches him just some basic theory. Three months later he comes back and in the course of conversation, picks up Danny's Tele and he's a string bending, country pickin' MANIAC! The guy is just good at EVERYTHING...

Well he bought some basic leather stamping tools a few years back and decided he was going to give leather working a go...the next time we seen him he had a hand tooled leather cover on his Tele that would make a 20 year tooling veteran drool. He's made a dead on replica of Waylon's Tele and then he covered his #1 tele in a light tan leather with this "Amber Waves of Grain" theme...absolutely stunning!

It sounds the way any good Tele should - I've heard this specific guitar before and after the cover and I don't remember any big difference in sound. An acoustic I would understand, but I don't think it would make toooooo drastic of a difference on a solid body. I haven't seen him since we moved back up, but I'll ask some questions about the changes in sound next time we catch up with him

I think those covers are just the coolest! Especially if you do it yourself...imagine the pride you'd have in that piece of work!

TOILET SEAT PHOTOS!

I'm so embarrassed yet strangely proud at the same time...

The headstock could be better...but in true Mandy and Danny fashion, those are BARDENS!
