Hey everyone.

This is my first post here at teleModders; It seems like a friendly place.
I recently picked up a very cool six saddle brass bridge not unlike the one on the Andy Smmers re-issue.  the problem is that my guitar is a MIJ telecaster and the mounting screws for the pups I've discovered are a bit oversized for the holes in the bridge plate.  I've thought about reaming out the holes slightly but then thougt about direct mounting the pup to the body of the guitar as in the A Summers model.  I'm not sure how this would effect the tone but my guitar does have a nice resonance when played acoustically.  Anyway, has anyone done this?  I've read elsewhere about putting dense foam in the bottom of the cavity but nobody has really clarified why this is a good idea.  I'm also wondering about adjusting the hight of the pup afterwords or any grounding issues I should be aware of.  Any advice, cautions or considerations would be welcome.
