Does anyone know what the story is with Joe Barden pickups, has He gone out of business??I'm in the middle of building my dream Tele and had my mind dead set on a set of T-Style JB pickups.I've searched the world literally for a source of these but had no luck. I'm thinking of trying to make a set myself now.Maybe a silly comment, but if anyone has a set lying around and wants to sell them then I'll be the first to line up.Toby.

Joe Barden never formally went out of business I believe. He just ran into some serious problems that very well could have had that result. But the story now is he is on his way back, currently working to fill his old orders and promises before taking new ones. I hope he will soon so I can order my custom strat set.

Oh, and people started queuing up a few months back. You are way too late to be number one in line...

If you cannot wait, and are comfortable with buying there, they do pop up on eBay. But the big gold rush seems to be over. They are still priced a small fortune, but they don't seem to sell that easily anymore. Maybe because the rumour that he is on his way back is starting to spread, and people prefer to wait. I will, if it doesn't take too long...

while I'm not currently "in the market" for one of his pickups, I'd personally much rather give my money 'directly' to Mr Barden than to someone on ebay!

However, I am kinda interested in hearing MORE about his Charlie Christian (aka: CC) pickups...I'm a chordal jazz player.

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but would anybody have a schematic for installing a pair of Bardens in  a Tele. I'm expecting the set this week. Thanks!

OTM, except for an experimental model or two made for Jay Monterose, Joe doesn't make Charlie Christian pups. If he did, I'd be all over it!

There are other makers, inlcuding Lollar and Vintage Vibe, that do have them in production.

Jay Monterose makes a Charlie Christian pup - actually that's the only CC style pup I've ever played in my life. Our Vintique Tele (which should be done here shortly, Jay's actually been trying to keep in touch and get things sorted out     ) has Barden's though.

I really wish this whole thing with Joe was straightened out...I absolutely love his pickups and it hurts me to know people out there want his product but can't get it and it hurts me to know there are people out there who think so poorly of him. I'm nobody but I wish there was something I could do.

Geir hit the nail on the head though, he's working on his current orders before moving on to new ones.

I think I'm going to try again to talk Joe into letting me work for him free of charge - my band schedule is crazy, but I love that guys product and I'd work my fingers to the bone just to help even a bit  to get things back to the way the used to be.

It know it stinks but try to be patient...

I'd like to see Joe Barden get back in biz myself; he makes great pups.

BTW, Jason Lollar makes a Charlie Christian PUP. Never tried it, but his P-90s seem to be making quite a splash. His tele pups look pretty nice as well.

His website: http://www.lollarguitars.com.

The Lollar CC is a nice choice, as is the Vintage Vibe CC Rider. I've done a head to head comparison of both against a real Gibby archtop loaded with a CC. I need to get it dumped down to CD and sent over. Mandy suggested we might be able to post the sound clips somewhere here at Telemodders.
