Bless her heart! Her legs DO look extra long but I wonder if part of that is the little sweater she is wearing? You can't see any furnishings hanging down from her chest or tummy that would make the legs appear shorter. On the other hand, it doesn't seem she has very much hair on her legs, anyway. They must have cut most of it off because of matting, etc.
It was good to see she is in a no-kill shelter.

Hi I am new here... trying to answer a few posts and they all are so interesting. I think it is the combo sweater, no furnishings, and a bad angle. IMO it is a bad shot of the dog. Our club is on petfinders and our kind president will tell us what shot to use and touch it up and get the blue dog eye out. That one looks like it does have long legs. I am kinda picky about pictures and he should have been photo'd without the sweater.

And lying DOWN! LOL! She really *does* have extremely long legs and no body.

Mix or not.... putting a dog's photo online for the purpose of trying to find it a forever home is nothing more than simple MARKETING, and one should always try to get the best possible photo of each dog in order to pique a possible adopter's interest. Here is a photo I took of one of our rescues that I had here for three weeks while she was in season: http://www.petfinder.com/fotos/MN144/MN144.5467050-1-pn.jpg Annie was 12 years old, as I recall, and she was placed very quickly.... and deservably so... she was an absolute SWEETHEART (ears and all! LOL!).
Now compare those two photos. Which dog catches your interest more?

I called a rescue group near us and told them I would groom their schnauzers for them for free. They said they like the puppy look. I do like the schnauzer look personally and that is why are dogs get viewed more and pages are passed for others to see increasing our "View" numbers. So many people call me about the dogs on petfinder.com and say that "That one looks just like my _________." Nothing personal about the dog and it is the photographer that needs help. <G> Making a squeaky sound to cock their head makes them look even more adorable. Picture taking is interesting to me. Pam

I think the quality of the picture is very important. I have seen some pretty poor ones on petfinder.com (so blurry all you could make out was the size and color of the dog at best). The right picture will grab someones interest. It's not easy to find homes for all these dogs, and every possible thing that can be done to improve the odds should be done.

I don't know...I'm a sucker for the "stray" look. I know this poor little grandma hasn't been fed properly, groomed, or loved. I think she looks terrible, but I find myself wanting to take her home, fatten her up a bit, and brush those long legs until they grow nice and fluffy... LOL. Living with a long-legged schnauzer already, I am partial to the look. Before Beau's furnishing came in all nice and fluffy like...he looked rather awkward BUT SOOO CUTE.

The longer the legs the more the model gets paid. Maybe they will pay off for her. We all noticed her!
