I had difficulty finding pet friendly accomodations for our fist time trip with our mini. I joinedwww.takeyourpet.comfor a $14.95 fee. They had some pretty good info on the site but I was not real impressed with their search methods for finding accomodations. I had little luck there. However, I found a great condo throughwww.vrbo.com(vacation rental by owner). This site is not exclusively pet friendly. However, it pretty easy to search through their options by location and they have a "dog paw" icon indicating which accomodations are pet friendly, so you just have to scroll through the list and click onto the pet friendly locations as you see them.

I tend to just stick with Motel 6 and Red Roof (my favorite).

I usually find hotels that take pets by checking Travelocity--their search function makes it very easy to search by hotels that accept pets.  Every Residence Inn we've stayed at has taken dogs and been very pet-friendly.  No place was as great as the Fairmont though---treated my dog like royalty.

Another good source for finding pet friendly accomodations is the AAA book Traveling with Your Pet, The AAA PetBook.  It retails in USA for 17.95 and I think is well worth the cost.
