Our schnauzer is 5 months old & his ears have just started standing up !WEhad decided not to crop his ears when we first got him BUT now my husband is determined to have it done b/c he says he looks like a bat!!What do you think??
We can't make the decision for you. However, I would like to point out a couple of things that might help you make the decision.
1) the longer you wait to do this the harder it may be on the puppy....and you.
2) cropping is not an "in-and-out" type surgery. Depending on who does it and the method they use, it can be a pretty ugly mess, painful for the dog. It requires several trips to the vet (the ear vet I use requires WEEKLY visits for ear care until the process is finished) first for cleaning the stitched ears, then removing stitches, then stretching and taping. (As Karen notes, your pup may not have to be taped since ears are already up, but funny things can happen, I've learned.)
3) you really must find someone who is experienced in ear cropping. It costs over $100 here - could be different in your area.
