Nitro's collar broke and he ran for a busy road in pursuit of what I think was a squirrel..I saw the SUV only in my perpipheral vision but my brain quickly figured out that the timing would not bode well for him...as I ran screaming for him ( didn't know I could scream that loud ), I watched helplessly as this massive vehicle driving at least 10mph faster than the 30mph road allows, nailed Nitro, he screamed,and his little body was hit first by the front tire, then the rear and spitting him out to the other side of the road....I burned across the street expecting to find my sweet angel with his guts blown out of every orafice, or a dog in two pieces, and there he sat shaking...I scooped him up quickly and as I turned for the road, noticed the SUV had slowed...the driver KNEW he'd hit my dog...and then, he sped away....moral compass officially off kilter...I rapidly placed Nitro in my car and sped for the only animal ER I knew of and ran him inside...they removed him to the back...and here, for tre sake of space I will fast forward...Nitro has defied all the laws of physics and after an observial stint in ICU has NO broken bones, NO internal injuries, and NO neurological damage..his vital signs are stable and all blood reports check out in the normal range....AND, i get to bring him home today!!! he will be on pain meds as he is bruised from head to toe with some road rash, for the next tend days it's meds and rest....they are using a combo of rimadyl and tramadol...the rimadyl i'm not so excited about...Friends, I truly cannot wrap my mind around what I witnessed and the result...it absolutely fries the logica unit in my brain...but on every other level i am absolutely elated that Nitro the Wonderdog is staying in my life....I am borrowing a wireless connection and have extremely limited time use..i wanted to let the members read this miraculous story but sorry I cannot currently go through the new registration process....my eternal apologies, but once we are settled in our new home and i have a reliable and private connection, i will follow suit...
