I am in the process of looking into training for my new pup, who will come to live with me in about 8 weeks. In the prior thread, there was mention of AKC-recognized clubs.I found the local training club listed on the AKC website, so I assume that means it is recognized, but what exactly does that mean? Is it an indication of quality training or participation in events? I know I certainly wouldn't buy from a breeder just because they have AKC-registered dogs, so can I feel confident that this club would be a good place to go?Of course I do plan to visit and observe a class or two before signing up!Eventually, I hope to compete in obedience and then, if the dog likes it and shows some skill, maybe agility. So, it seems like a training club would be a great atmosphere.
