Hi, I am new to this forum, I have been reading your questions and answers for a couple of weeks. I have 3 mini's, 2 males and 1 female. My oldest male is almost 7 he was my first ms and he is nuetered. He did not come with papers. My second is a male I came across by accident. And he is the first dog I ever registered through the AKC. The breeder told me nothing about him. And when I got his pedigree back I was completely surprised to find his Championship lineage. He was 4 months old whenI got him. Hehas natural ears. And When I discovered his CH bloodline, I thought I would check into showing him. So I scoured through the AKC.org and the AMSC.us and they spoke of hand stripping. Andboth websites recommended that I contact my breeder for assistance. So I called them, and guess what? They told me they did not know a stripper and that I should check the yellowpages. They decided to quit showing. I said OK thank you. Then I searchedthe phonebook, calling every groomer in town, and I searched online for a stripper, and nothing. A few months went by and I found the breederofhis grand-parents, Whosome of you may know, including Mrs. Britmoore, Anne Lockney of Ruedesheim's, wellshe refused to assist me in anyway andshe kept askingfrom whom I got my dog. Actually asking was not true, she kept demanding to know where I gothim. Anyway, I am not dissing Anne, I really admire what she has done for the breed and I understand her wanting to know. If truth be told, I only hope I am as successful as her at breeding and improving the breed. But needless to say I got know where there. And every groomer I met tried to tell me that a mini schnsuzer does not have to be hand-stripped for conformation. Well as soon as they say this I just politley excused myself and went to the next groomer. Boldrick, my young male's name, Soon turned 12 months old, and I had just about giving up on the show idea. When I found a groomer who said she does hand-stripping. And she does it in my home. And when she got to my house I had for her the information from Mrs. Britmoore's website printed for her. Hand she only had one stripping knife a medium.I was kind of nervous about her, and she told me she knows the techniques butshe nothing about mini's.Boldrick's coat has not at this time ever been groomed, I read that clippers can ruin the show coat. And Ipointed out to her that I will be happy for her to learn on my dog, after all the coat will grow back.I then asked her to read through the infor that I printed for her and I showed her the fingers method, and showed her how easy his hair came out.She started going through the information whileI went into the other room for about 30 minutes. Iset up Boldrick's training appointment. And when I came back in she had used clippers on his back, she said she thought it might be easier if she cut some of the hair... UUGGGHHH!!!!I told her the show coat of a mini can not be clippard because it changes the natural color and texture of his hair. She said she has shown dogs and had never heard this. I told her that is why I wanted him hand-stripped.That is why I gave you all of this information on it and I asked you to read it. So after almost a year of searching and begging. My heart sank. And so Ihad her go ahead and do a traditional cut on him according to the chart from AMSC.us. And I decided I can still put him in Obedience commpetiton. Now after all of this my question, Can a mini that has been clippered be in Obedeience competition? And by the way, After Boldrick was groomed I noticed his back legs are a littlebowlegged. So I think that would have been a downfall for him. And I found a female with streight hind legs so did her parents, so I am gonna breed them see if this flaw can be overcome in their offsprings.Thank you for letting me talk this much and hope someone cananswer my question.Lennie MorganMy babies name are Bugsy Malone, Boldrick Wilhelm Fletcher, And Lil BitOf Sooner Magic.

Mini Schnauzers, treat them like a teenager and you will know what to expect from them. They will be stuborn, talk back, pout, and by the end of the day they will love you even more.

Yes. They must only be stripped for conformation. Your dog can still be stripped even though he has now been clippered, but you will have to let his coat grow out before pulling, and it might have to be stripped a couple times to get a decent texture.

There is another breeder in Oklahoma who might help you with any of your questions: http://amsc.us/breeders.html

Along with Anne Lockney, I am a bit curious as to your dog's pedigree, etc., but since I have sold *very few* intact dogs for breeding purposes, I believe I know the source of my dogs behind yours and it is not a pretty story as those dogs were obtained under false pretenses and ended up in what I consider to be a puppymill. (Any time someone says they have my pedigree in their dogs it has *always* gone back to that source.) I can totally understand why Anne wanted to know the name of your dog's breeder; we all like to know where "our dogs" have ended up.... and I will tell you that those particular dogs of mine (and their descendents) thus far have *NEVER* ended up in the hands of any breeder that I considered to be reputable. It would be nice to be proven wrong about that.

And, by the way.... is your dog really bowlegged, or did this "expert show groomer" you found just groom him that way? I cannot tell you how many groomers shave down those inner thighs giving the dog a "keyhole/bowlegged" look.

Hi Mrs. Brittan,

First allow me to say, I really appreciate all the love and attention you give to your dogs. The many years you have put into your ms is evident in the quality and beautiful dogs you produce and not to mention all those champions!!

Ok first I will tell you my dog's pedigree that is listed on his certificate issued to me from the AKC

Lets start off with my dog

Boldrick Wilhelm Fletcher aka Fletch, Fletcheroni Pizza

AKC #: RN06920101

Miniature Schnauzer Salt and Pepper

Born: 12/15/2004

Breeder: Richard Worsham

Owner: Leonard Morgan (that's me)

Sire:  G And D Sundown Currier Whizzer AKC# RN00211502

Sire: Am Ch. Ruedesheim's Billionaire AKC #RM140699/01

        Sire: AM CH Ruedesheim's Hi-Tech AKC # RM248137/08

Dam: Am Ch. Ruedesheim's Innocent Blush AKC# RM026325/02

Sire: Am Ch. Ruedesheim's Meteor AKC # RB226036

           Dam: INT/AM CH Ruedesheim's Fascinatin'Rhythm AKC # RM194582/01 10-98

Dam: Am Ch. Ruedesheim's Girlfriend AKC # RM140699/02

Dam: Liberty Jane AKC # RN01103804

I do not have Liberty Janes info on me here at work. But I will get that info to you when I get home if you wish. I know her Sire is Aachen something and more Ruedesheims inlcuding Billionaire again are listed there, But I will get out the AKC pedigree and get you that.

Next. Thank you for answering my quiery. I was thinking that I read they can be in other AKC events.

To be honest I did not notice his bowleg until she did clip him. I did not know that a bad cut can make him appear to be bowleg. LOL funny word, anyway. And I beleive I did read on your site that a coat MAY return to normal. After a few strippings. That would be great if it did, but I still do not know about stripping him myself. Boldrick starts school tomorrow I will see what the instructor thinks.

I am familiar with Premier Schnauzers, and Susanne Short here in Oklahoma, but I have been kind of nervous in talking to her. I did not want to get yelled at again for asking questions. LOL.

But I completely understand Anne's reaction, just did not expect it to be so extreme.

Please let me assure you my only reason for breeding is to improve upon what my dog is lacking and maybe someday get me my homegrown champion. All dogs I produce will not leave my home until my vet has either spade or nuetered them. And if a suitable home can not be found then I will have one big happy family. I will run my kennel by the guidelines of the AKC and the AMSC. My whole life has been spent with dogs. My mother was a sucker for a stray. We lived in a small (I mean really small) town, 15 graduating seniors, and my mother was always finding strays that were dropped off out in the country she would bring them home and get them fixed and we would have anywhere from 5 to 15 dogs. Some mom would keep others she would find homes for. And our chores always centered around dogs. And so I do understand and I love them very much.

I appreciate all of your time. You are a one in a million breeder for offering all of the information that you do.

Lennie Morgan

Yes, Lennie, I would be interested in seeing that. You may email me privately, if you wish.
