We just had a horrible experience. Lucky Ludwig (10 mos) is at the vet hospital this very moment.Thankfully he is vastly improved and may be coming home tomorrow. He has been diagnosed with pancreatitis.?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />Tuesday late evening Lucky had loose stool and this never happens.I thought it may be from the mouse he ate earlier in the day (our cat brought it in and he got it before we could get to it).Wednesday I noticed he didn't eat all his breakfast.Mid morning Lucky vomited.I took him to our Vet.He has a mild temp, but was active, friendly and alert. The vet gave him a shot to settle his stomach, tablets for later, and special food.Lucky ate a little (looking back he was a little less active than normal).About 2:30 AM Lucky woke us by licking my head and laying his head on my husband's chest.I got up with him and he vomited.I held him a moment and could feel he was warmer than normal. We called the vet hospital and they put us through thevet on callwho came in immediately to meet us there. While getting him ready for the exam Lucky eliminated on their floor and it was blood.I almost fainted in fear.By 4AM he was x-rayed and started on fluids.Lucky has shown no previous problems with his diet.He is a real goat though and I have to keep an eye on him at all times. We have things set up so he can't get at the cats food and his diet is New Balance dry.His treats are New Balance and he gets no people food other than tiny bits of apples and carrots on occasions.I did give him a chew called Moozes that looks like a cow's snout and I am convinced that is what did it (that, or the mouse). It has been awful.I have not been able to see him since we rushed him there. They told me I could go, but the down side would be he would get all excited and they want to keep him calm, also they would have to remove the catheter and replace it.They are right of course...visiting would only make me feel better and do nothing good for him. He was on his last bag of fluids earlier today and has been eating small amounts of food. He is keeping that down and his stools are solid.Thankfully it looks like we dodged a bullet.I'm still not sure what brought it on.I am so careful with his diet.It was so stupid of me to give him the chew.I am hoping his has not caused perm damage.Has anyone experienced this?
