Re :   where have they gone?

Well the only cars left that have not been crushed is a old joe jackson chassis, the 76 car scott martin used to drive. the rayburn we had that mike st john drove in 94 just the cage is around. In another one of our barns is the 73 car that cecil carr drove for the hargraves its a  cort tomisak chassis. I think chicken crushed the ones he had.

Topic :   who would you like to see in a stock

ok now how about stocks.  is there a hornet or roadrunner driver you would like to see in a stock?

personally my choice would be justin dibbern.  this young man impressed me all year long.  he didn't have the deepest pockets in the division.  he was driving a car that had been around for a couple of years.  he stayed out of the middle of all the drama that plagues the roadrunners.  and overall displayed the talent of a good wheel man.

Topic :   where have they gone?

with the buzz about the iofs there is becoming a renewed interest in latemodel racing.  i know i recently uncovered the where abouts of the old keith ritchie latemodel.  that is the car we are building for some iofs shows, the jakes 150, and some possible others.  here is a list of some one i know of.  if you know of some others post them up here.

jay wayner has a sister car to the one austin tunny drove this past year.  i don't know if he or kim gibson drove it last.  there is an old george sutton car a friend of tim mourning has.  the old country brown, john lord car is in tim's garage and that is the car donnie scurry is supose to drive.  i saw the 75 from the last outlaw race sitting in front of chucks shop a couple of weeks ago with no front or rear suspension.  chuck has the old fenwick chassis that mike cain, curtis macmurtry, and kevin ford have driven in the past.  i heard he has a greig chassis that has never been put together.  he has the last car george sutton drove, the tomasiak.  i was told that ernie and wally schearer still have a doug greig chassis that has never been put together.  i think i heard chuck had both of kevin ford's last cars, #'s 50 and 44.

so do you know of any others?

Re :   latemodel future

i have to finish cutting up an old stocker that i acquired with a bent frame.  the old 47.  then the latemodel is coming in and being stripped down to bare metal.  from there i'll be puting her back together.

Re :   latemodel future

Well I really think what we all heard at the banquet last weekend will make the IOFS really strong I dont see the speedrome getting any better we all no what happened last year just wait until this year. With the whole EDCO thing on board he will get away with everything. But I guess we will just see. Hopefully hes not leading all the way and then gets slammed in the one hour I guess people just need to race hard every night and what you do to everyone else you will prolly back in return see every one in 09 im excited alittle. I KNOW I AM FOR THE IOFS but i'm not really sure about the SPEEDROME.

Re :   latemodel future

if they would run smaller tires that last lots of cars would come back. Smaller tire = less outspending someone can do under the hood. Will that happen probably not. We would all like to run every week, the money it takes to take the car out there is managable then tires. atleast with the IOFS if they do it every three weeks or so it gives people a chance to put new shoes on there ride besides running some used speed lacking ones. somtimes following roots hurts more then starting new roots.

Re :   latemodel future

the iof's could help or hurt the late models.  most likely it will hurt the weekly series at the speedrome but it could help the overall nationwide car count of figure 8 cars.  I know the announcement at the banquet didn't do anything but hurt the series.  the track needs to change to a longer lasting cheaper tire whether they are junk or slow or whatever. something that you dont have to have stickers on to run up front like the recap from 95 to 2003.  those worked great.  when tire soaking becomes an issue,  enforce the rule, and if you can't do that, then allow soaking to stop the fuss.  If the tires don't change the late model series will never get better unless the economy makes huge improvements and everyone can afford 500 a week to run up front.  IOF would work at it's best for everyone if it was on fri or sat nights.  Less conflict with other weekly series would be the best thing.  If not the IOF's will have a couple of unknowns and charlie, doug, and r.j. most likely.   I bet everyone else will probably be at the speedrome unless everyone decides they can't handle the EDCO deal and decide to only run charlie's events, which do sound like some fun.  But i'm a horny racer.  I like to race every night or at least every weekend.  I'd get too depressed waiting on the next race if I only ran the IOF's.

Re :   what's your plans for next season

we plan to run all regular season. all of us in the same cars so far.  austin or jesse is looking for an upgrade.  i'm looking for sponsors for parts like better shocks, new headers, new wheels, and small things like rivets and sheet metal.  Also, we could use help with money getting the motors refreshed. I was hoping scott keen would still want to haul my car to florida.  I would really like to go and if I can run anything like I did at anderson I think it would be worth the trip, but hopefully make it through the final turn without getting into the wall or anything else.   The announcement at the banquet kinda took away a lot of people's enthusiasm and excitement to run next year.   hard telling what dad and uncle bruce will do.  I know a lot of people aren't happy.

Re :   sunday 8 fun nights

i disagree about the flagpole is a demo derby.  there is a skill to it like figure 8 racing.   the difference is the idiots are smart enough to stay away from the eight.  so with that said.  if you dig out some of the old tapes from the roadrunners, 2000 season, you will see some guys who knew how to run the flagpole in action.  guys like john new, doug carver, and one of the team green guys was pretty good at it.  i think it was curry.  maybe he could shed some light on it.  also it seems like frank hardcastle jr. was pretty good at it from my memory.

Re :   sunday 8 fun nights

The only bad thing is that this is a horrible time to try to add extra race dates with this down economy. This would be a good thing if there was a cheap tire rule (maybe a tire store sponsoring this series, kind of like general tire did, run the cheapest tire they have at 10% above cost or something) and a split track deal (1 st race at speedrome, 2nd race at anderson, then repeat) and a totally seperate points and payout fund.  And money going to each track owner, but the series not run by either one. No fights about track owners playing favorites, and money being accounted for, so fewer reasons for fans and drivers to complain about management. I am sure I will think of other things to add, but that is all for now....

Re :   sunday 8 fun nights

I THINK THIS WOULD ALL BE GOOD EXCEPT THE FLAG POLE. YOU MAY AS WELL HAVE A DEMO DERBY. THAT IS NOT RACING.

Topic :   sunday 8 fun nights

here is an idea that i came up with from discussion on another message board.  some one said he would like to see more than three stock figure 8s.  maybe do a stock figure 8 division with a separate points race.  here is an idea i said sort of tongue and cheek.  but the more i think about it i think it would be great.

sunday 8 fun night.

stock figure 8, bomber 8, hornet 8, roadrunner flagpole, and hornet flagpole.  twice a month for the run of the season.  separate points for stocks, crown a stock, bomber8, and hornet 8 champion.   also crown a roadrunner and hornet flagpole champ separate from the regular season.  i bet you could get a good car count and grandstand off the format.

doug and i each have caprice bodies.   we could build bombers for this easily.  tell me what you think.

Re :   latemodel future

our latemodel probably hasn't been out in about that long.  but it was fast when it ran back then.  it now has a new front clip and has had some other bars replaced.  i have a rack, spindles, rotors, upper and lower a arms, and some wheels for it so far.
