it is official, there will be a figure 8 race on october 24 at the johnson county fairgrounds. this event is for hornet cars. the event will be in addition to autocross for both full size (roadrunner) and mini (hornet) cars. there will be several heats and a feature of demo derby as well. the way i understand it racing starts at 2:30 with autocross heats followed by autocross features then autocross specialty races. after that there will be derby heats followed by hornet figure 8. then derby finals. grandstands are $8 for adults, car and driver $30. and pit admission is $10 for non drivers. if you are interested in racing call jr. rouse at 765-238-8012. also he is looking for sponsors for the event. sponsorships available from $100 and up. see you there.

yes it is dirt. there are two races for the hornet type cars. first is an autocross. this race is an oval with a jump on each straightaway. you can use any type of contact to get around of the car in front of you including dumping them. second is a figure eight race. it is a small tight course. both races should pay somewhere around $300 to win. it depends on how many cars we get and how many more sponsors step up with prize money. if we get a lot of entries the purse will grow accordingly. right now the promoter is expecting ten or more cars.
finally there is an autocross for full size or roadrunner type cars. it should pay around $350 to win.

longtime sportsdrome racer. he has been retired for a few years. coming out of retirement to race at this event. the prospect of running an autocross and figure eight in the same event was too good to pass up.
