Good Afternoon,

I am proud to announce that the West Virginia Department of Education and the West Virginia Air and Army National Guard are working in cooperation to hold the Inaugural Troops to Teachers 5K Run/Walk event in support of veterans benefits awareness on June 27th, at 8:00am in beautiful Coonskin Park. Operations for the event are scheduled to take place at the Coonskin Armory Annex building and the front gate of Coonskin Park. This is an excellent opportunity for educators, veterans, students, and all West Virginians to share their experiences with one another while supporting the brave men and women of our country’s armed forces. The Troops to Teachers program gives veterans the unique opportunity to bring their education, skills, and experiences into the classroom to benefit America’s youth. We are looking for runners and walkers that may be interested in attending the event. Registration is free and all participants will receive a complimentary set of Troops to Teachers dog-tags. The first 100 registered participants will receive a free t-shirt. In addition, all non-competitive runners will have the option of participating in a unique “motivational” military formation run. If you know of anyone that may be interested in participating in the event, please distribute this information to them.

Participant registration and updates for the event are being posted at http://wvde.state.wv.us/troopstoteachers/events.php. For more information contact the Office of Professional Preparation at 1.800.982.2378. Thank you for your consideration.
