Wanting To Buy or Trade For - Looking
for a very good condition 1969 model year 440 HP engine to rebuild out of a
Dodge or Plymouth
musclecar. I would prefer a complete
engine assembly or long block assembly, but would buy a bare block as
well. Wanting a factory stamped engine
built in mid November 1968 to early December 1968 as described below. Not interested in "restampped"
engines. Willing to buy or trade for,
and have good trade material (Mopar parts, such as a 18 Spline 4 Speed
Transmission, OR a new aluminum 440 Six Pack Intake & Air Cleaner, OR a
1969 RR/GTX Air Grabber hood ). Also
have some body sheetmetal for various Mopar B-Bodies & E-Bodies, or even
have a 1968 Dodge Polara 2 Door Hard Top available for trade for the right
engine...
Here is what to look for on the pad
at the driver's side front of the engine block.
The picture below is from a car built at the same time as mine, so a
11/26/68 date as shown on it would be
perfect for my car. I would like to find
an 440HP engine with an assembly date in the range of 11/16/68 to 12/1/68, but
I may consider engines slightly out of that range. The block casting date is not as important,
but would typically be mid October 1968 to early November 1968 for the assembly
dates that I am looking for.
See picture below for the stampings
to look for... "11 26" means an engine assembly date of
11/26/68, and it should be followed by "HP" or "HP2"... the
"2" only indicates it was assembled during second shift. The "E440" shows that it was for a
1969 "E Series" car... "F" would be for 1970, Etc. The pad may also be stamped with a wide
variety of oversize / undersize codes like the "B" shown in the
example below. The O/Size - U/Size
stampings are not important in my search.
