I’ve enjoyed your site and reading about your club. I leave in Hoover (Bham) and plan on heading South to check ya’ll out. I purchased a Nirvana from Steve Lang a couple of weeks ago. I had been reading about the radios and crystals so I got the Spectrum and if my understanding is correct it will find an open channel or frequency and I will not have to “take up” one of the others. When I got the boat and put the batteries in the transmitter it started smoking so after talking to Steve I sent it back to Horizon Hobby and hopefully it will be back soon (Steve offered to send a “lender” but I guess I’ll just wait).

I had registered on SailRC’s site to join Nirvana Club so I could get some numbers but have yet to receive any reply. I thought I could at least be getting those made.

I also wanted to ask to anyone that has any experience with the Spectrum radio. Will I have to “bind” it to the two servos’? If so how. The instructions in the manual are confusing.

I hope to visit ya’ll one Saturday Sail day soon and find out more about RC Sailing.

Bo Brown

Welcome to the club. Looks like this weekend is a wash but hopefully next weekend will be different. I would say the best way to get your boat set up is just bring it and let the "experts" set it up. Getting the Spektrum radio was a good choice beyond the channel thing. You will see once you start sailing. Binding the radio will take about 5 minutes once the "experts" remember how to do it. Also my experience is that the controls are backwards on the Spektrum witch will take about 5 minutes to correct. Its just another programming ;problem. We are just a bunch of "good guys" that enjoy getting together. If your boat is not ready next week just come on down and I'm sure you will have a great time. I'll bet their will be an extra boat somewhere for you to try.

Welcome...come on down and see if ya want to join...if you do, all we need is for ya to sign a standard " Hold Harmless" form. As for the sail numbers...you may need to keep bugging Steve...a lot of us had the same issue.

Hope to see ya soon.
