One of the most frustrating things about getting ready for a race is getting down to the last day or the last minutes and finding you don’t have that one part you need to get your car finished.  And now you don’t have time to go find it, or order it and wait.

I know the frustration!  I went through this YESTERDAY trying to get ready for tomorrow.  So things are NOT going to be the way I wanted them to be for this race.

I’m sure many of you are going through the same thing as you try to get ready.

You are aware that Allied Motor Sports is now the Azusa dealer.  Azusa manufactures a large line of kart parts as well as race wear.  You can check out the product line here;

http://www.azusaeng.com/azusaline.html

And you also know that all MISFITS members receive a substantial discount on all Azusa parts ordered through Allied Motor Sports.

I am trying to have a stock on hand of everything we will need.  This is going to take time and also a large investment on my part.  So I don’t want to have un-needed items sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

AND I don’t want to have to place those last minute orders and pay overnight freight to get things here.  After about 2:0clock on Friday, it’s too late for them to pull and ship an order anyway.

So I’m asking that you take a little time before the next race and go through the Azusa site just to see what they offer.  Then let me know what you think you may need in the future.  This is NOT placing an order and there is NO obligation!

This way I can start to stock the things you think you may need so we have them on hand latter when you need them.

And anyone who has purchased Azusa parts, please give us some feed back on how they worked out for you.  We’re just learning about this stuff and any information we have will help us to help you latter when you need parts.

I hope to have many of the Azusa Items as well as other things that are important to us on the Allied Motor Sports web site soon.  But until then, check out the Azusa line at;

http://www.azusaeng.com/azusaline.html

See You on the Hill!

Hey, I'll pull a fast one where ever I can!

The answering service butchered your last name, so when I called your wife, I never put two & two together.

Didn't the shipping papers say Allied Motorsports was a division of Allied Medical?  Sorry for the confusion.

The plastic Azusalite wheels seem to be the least expensive.  They work pretty well, but one of the short comings is that they have a limited tire selection that fits them.  The aluminum wheels have a much larger tire selection, but those wheels cost more.

These Azusalite wheels are fitted with a 5/8” I.D. precision bearing;

5” Azusalite part# 1057  list price $26.25ea. – 20% =$21.00ea.

6” Azusalite part #1072 list price $31.95 – 20% = $25.56ea.

Then you are looking at about $15 for a tire and $7 for a tube.

BUT:

We have also found a real good combination by using the 6” Harbor Freight wheels and replacing the bearings and tires.  These are the wheels we started off with on the rear of all our cars.  A complete wheel/tire/tube sold for about $10.  (sorry I don’t have the Harbor Freight part number)

We then install the good bearings  part #8205 $2.15 ea. And a ribbed, flat profile tire 13-500x6 part #7168 list price 19.75.

You can reuse the Harbor Freight inner tube, or replace it with tube #7133 list price $7.85

So that works out to;

$10 for the complete wheel/tire/tube.

2 bearings at 2.15 = $4.30 – 20%= $3.44 for bearings

tire - $19.75 – 20% = $15.80 for a tire

That works out to $29.24

OR, add another 6.28 if you want to replace the tube ($35.52)

Now, if you aren’t sure about this wheel/tire/bearing combo, watch our race footage from Sept. 6!   This is what we had on the white loaner car being driven by a GIRL.  The car and driver are both very light weight.  We never did an alignment on the car and this was the first time this driver ever drove a soap box car.  She rolled out into the lead at the start and She finished 4th!  Jola got past her just a few feet before the finish!   And the white car has always been the slowest of our loaners!  UO, you drove that one on Eagle Rock I think in the fun run, so you know how slow it was before.

The Harbor Freight tire will work, but we found they aren’t round.  And they are very soft, so if you slide the car or skid, you flat spot them real bad.

UO, give me a little more info to work with.

There are a lot of combos to put together with different wheel sizes and tire designs.   Focus it down a little and I'll put together some packages and price them.

You looking for 5", 6", 8"?

Is this just for loaner cars or people starting out?

All the package deals Azusa has come with Studded tires or Turf savers on aluminum wheels.  Most of those list for about $80 a pair.  But if you give me a little more info on wheel size and axle size, we can probably come up with something that will work better for us AND be a lot cheaper.

LET ME KNOW!
