You are right on about "Heroes". It's a pretty good show. We started watching it a couple of weeks ago. I had to read up on past episodes that I missed. Hope they have reruns. Do you think the writers will keep fans guessing on how they all got their super-powers? I think I'm going sign up on a forum for "Heroes". Their is so much to learn. Their is even a comic book.

im sure reruns will happen eventually. as for the origins of their powers.. well i heard the next episode, titled "six monthes" takes a look at the heroes 6 monthes before the series began. i think some discover their powers in this episode.
as for the origin? well something tells me they are going the genetic route.
Ive always loved heroes and comics, so i know a bit about origins.
in the spiderman world, all the heroes are born normal and something happens to give em powers. in the x-men world, all the charactors are mutants, born with the powers, only to discover them around the teenage years.
in the batman world, The heroes/villains tend to be human, and their powers come from technology, or their minds.
in the superman world, well, hes an alien that came to earth, and some of his villains are alien too, but his main enemy is a rich super villain, lex luthor.
basicaly, there are many ways to explain hero origins, whether its genetic, alien, brains, money or training, theres always something.
I believe this show is most similar to the x-men universe. these people were born with the powers, but are only discovering them recently. infact, most of the powers seen by the heroes are identical to the powers of the x-men.

This show is really starting to piss me off. Nothing ever happens, and no questions are EVER answered! I don't mind being kept in suspense for a while, in fact I enjoy it, that's exactly what LOST does. Lost, however, while not being very forthcoming with answers regarding the main plot, at least gives us answers about characters' pasts. I guess that's the brilliance of LOST; it keeps the audience fairly satisfied by giving answers to cerain questions through the flash backs in the storyline. Heroes, however, does not do this. Last week, we were told we'd finally find out what "save the cheerleader, save the world" meant...we were not! We found out how she was saved, but they didn't even come close explaining the meaning of that phrase.
As for plot? I'm not sure this show has one. NOTHING is really happenning in the story, and NOTHING keeps happenning! I guess we all know that they are going to have to end up saving the world, somehow, from something, and the cheerleader has something to do with that somehow, but I don't think, at this point that they're ever going to get around to telling us what that is!
Most of their powers seem pretty crappy too. Peter seems to have powers similar to Rogue from the X-Men, in that he can mimic the powers of other heroes when they are around him. I expected some bad ass fight between him and Sylar because of this. I thought he'd use Sylar's powers against him. Now that would have been cool to see, but all he did was run away...lame...
And then the blonde chick...she's not a super hero, she's just a crazy b*tch! Since when has split personnality syndrome been considered a super power?
I'm not sure about this show. I feel like I have to keep watching because I don't want to miss these answers if they ever come, but I'm not sure they will. Then again, I might as well keep watching because there's nothing else on on Mondays at this time.

At the beginning I was really enjoying the show but, now i'm starting to just get annoyed. I was also disappointed in the last episode. It answered nothing and has never answered anything. The mother has me so confused. I have no idea what her super power is. I assume that her alter ego has super strength. There are so many charachters and they seem to have no clue what to do with them. Like you Big_P I feel like I have to keep watching because it could be a great show if they ever get around to answering the questions the audience has.

What a bunch of crap!
SPOILERS FOR THOSE WATCHING THE WEST COAST FEED!
Yet another lie! "Find out how they got their powers" my ass! Find out the first time most of them discovered their powers maybe, but there was nothing, NOTHING explaining how. The producers of this show blatantly lie in their previews, and lie repeatedly at this point. Why can't I stop watching this thing????
By the way, I should have mentioned this before. The cop in heroes was the pilot in LOST that Jack, Kate and Charlie talked to before he was killed.

They have dragged this show on for too long. I'm starting to lose interest. They did lie! They said find out how they got their powers and they didn't show how even one of them got their powers. I'm really hoping next week they give us something. Anything would be nice.

it did answer our questions. first of all, we know the people with the powers were born with them, so they are genetic. the episode gave us our first real look at sylar, and showed us the origin of his powers.
he finds people with powers, takes their brains and somehow absorbs their powers. from this we can figure that his other powers came from people that were telekinetic, had the ability to freeze people, and there are others im sure.
I think he wanted claire so he could have the instant regeneration powers. that episode was really neat, and it also showed us a lot about hiro. it was neat seeing him 6 monthes back, meeting the girl, when it turns out she had a terminal illness anyway.
i also thought it was interesting that he teleported back to japan and his powers stopped working. he actually had to get back to the diner by old fashioned means. I loved seeing future hiro, and i really cant wait until they fully realize and can control their abilities. it would be awesome seeing them form a team like the x-men!

all im saying, its a series about heroes. its not going to run for a set duration, like daybreak(only lasting 13 episodes) Heroes could be a mid to long lasting series.
The show could potentially last for 5+ seasons, considering this first season is leading up to one event, and presumably it will be stopped by the heroes. next season im sure will feature more confident heroes, new storylines, greater super villains, new heroes and im sure many new events.
seeing future hiro wearing all black with the sword, speaking perfect english, it just gives a glance of things to come. it shows that the heros will be better trained, possibly organized, and im sure there will be more interesting charactors to come!
I know that some people are having problems with the first season, maybe its too slow, not as much fighting as x-men, whatever, just know that this first season is pretty much the origin story. every superhero movie series(spiderman, x-men, fantastic 4, batman, superman etc...) starts of with the story of the origin of the hero and their abilities. Its an important part of the overall storyline of the charactors, it just needs to be included.
for Heroes, the first season is more or less the origin story. we know what powers the Heroes have, although im sure some charactors are only beginning to discover their abilities. just knowing what powers they have isnt enough. we need to see how they discover their abilities, and that is happening slowly.
the last episode was good because it showed the heroes discovering their abilities, although they dont realize what they have yet.
Heroes is similar to lost in that there are many charactors, and we are slowly peeling back the layers of each person, learning more about them and their past. some charactors are made to appear like bad guys, and some as good, but im beginning to think that some of the good are bad and vice versa. Nikki(the blonde mirror lady) seemed to be good, but her other half does some bad stuff, so i wouldnt doubt if she turns out to be bad.
her husband that escaped from Jail was portrayed as a bad guy, but now he is seeming like he could be a hero. another mysterious charactor is mr Bennett(a.k.a HRG or Claires dad) he seemed to have alterior motives regarding the heroes, but now he is seeming like more of a good guy, looking after his daughter. he works for a mysterious agency, but it hasnt officially been determined if he is good or bad...
As i said, Heroes-season 1 is more or less an origin story, the next season should have more action, and cooler effects. down the line, this show can be seriously good!

yea, but in real life, things dont go that quick. for instance, on prison break, ive been watching all season, but they have only been escapees for 10 days. that show has a lot of action, but its understandable, they are on the run and constantly being chased...
on heroes, they are leading up to this nuclear explosion in new york. in the mean time, we are seeing more of other peoples powers, learning some backstories, and getting some insights into the future of the series.
I think the first season will be similar to lost. in lost, we started to get to know the charactors, and we didnt really know much about what was really going on. in the finale, they opened the hatch, and everything has been different since that moment.
i think the end of this season of heroes will be similar, in that we will discover things that will forever change the storyline, leading to deeper plots and more interesting stories...
for me, i never got into Lost when it started. i only watched my first episode during the summer, and after watching one, i watched them all, i just couldnt stop! I think heroes might be the same for some of you. it might be better watching the first season on dvd, just so you can watch it sequentially and not have the fall break in the middle.

Oh man, please tell me you didn't make th "in real life" argument. In real life, people don't have super powers! That's the point, this show isn't real life. I'm not worried about action if the storyline is good, but there doesn't seem to be much story here period. If there is, they are doing a poor job of telling it. Like I said, I don't mind being in suspense, hell, I like it. I like having the opportunity to make my own educated guesses about what's going on. But this show has not progressed the plot significantly enough since Hiro saw the nuclear explosion.
That's not even the biggest problem I have with the show. My biggest problem is that the producers lie to us about what's going to happen in upcoming shows. We did NOT find out how they got their powers last show. We saw when some of them discovered their powers for the first time. That is completely different from what we were promised! The show before that, we did NOT find out what "save the cheerleader, save the world" means. When Peter saves her, and then asks her "did I save the world" and she replies "I don't know, I'm just a cheerleader" that did not, in any way tell us what that phrase meant.
And now they say that a Hero is going to be lost this episode, and show a shot of a gun, and lets us hear a gun shot. The way they lied, it won't surprise me if we see Hiro and his friend driving in their car, and his friend looking over at Hiro and saying "I think we took a wrong turn," the camera will then pull in close on Hiro's face, and he will exclaim, "Oh no! We're lost!".
It's just getting ridiculous the way they are playing us.

I don't really watch the show. So I can't really say my view. But i do read up on it. from time to time.
1. Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera) is an artist living in New York who can paint and draw future events during precognitive trances. He initially could only enter the trance while under the effects of heroin, but has learned to induce the trance through deep concentration. Many of his works created in this way involve the other characters in the series.
2.Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) is a programmer[4] from Tokyo with the ability to manipulate the space-time continuum.
These two chrs above I belive could hold the key to the whole show. Their powers could do major damage. actualy Hiro could.
3.Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is a former nurse and Nathan's younger brother. He has the ability to temporarily mimic the powers of others when in close proximity. He also experiences precognitive dreams.
This guy could make a big change . He can use powers of others. So when one travels in time. If he alighns him self with a good psycic he could tell when Hiro was going to travel . touch or use Hiro's power to counter him.
what I get from
Niki Sanders (Ali Larter) is a webcam stripper who lives in Las Vegas with an unrestrained alternate personality. When this other personality, which identifies herself as being Niki's dead sister, Jessica, takes over, she exhibits superhuman strength.
I belive she some how shares a psycic link with her sister. How ,why. Im not sure. perhaps she has a power she has yet known . I think she may be pysycic and not even know. Their must be some type of psycic bond for her to share a bound with her dead sister's soule. Ther eis more to her "Powers" to come.
that is just basic anyilisis of each chr and possable happenings.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Save the cheerleaders, save the world? What doese it mean?
Claire's ultimate fate may be tied to the fate of the entire world. A future version of Hiro Nakamura told Peter Petrelli: "Save the cheerleader, save the world." In a painting Peter Petrelli finished for Isaac Mendez, a cheerleader is seen dead, with her brain removed from her skull. Isaac also experiences a vision of Claire being chased at her school. In the episode "Seven Minutes to Midnight", Mr. Bennet tells Isaac that Sylar will kill Claire at her school's homecoming game, and he needs Isaac to help him prevent the crime by completing a painting of Claire being murdered.
Her healing powers can be a major facter in a distant future event. such as an out breack of a virus. This was also done in the X-men story line. where Wolvering would be used as a antidote threw his healing facter to be the cure to a uncurable virus. So if Clair dies as perdicted. All is lost. Hiro's future self has already known this. He couldn't tell his past self due to the major effect it might have. So he went threw Peter. But that is what that means. save Clair a cheerleader who was being chased by Syla. Syla now knows of her power due to the encounter he had with her. Which means he will try for her again. Hiro must alter this some how some way. Due this and you save the world. For now anyhow lol.
But like P said. That still leaves the question. how did super powers come to exist. Sure they where born with it and they are discovering how to use them. But what caused this massive mutation or evloution in the evolution of man? That part is still unanwserd. And the producers promised us the anwser in that episode.

thats a pretty good summary of those charactors abilities.
there are a few other charactors on the show that have interesting abilities. i cant remember the names right now, but ill describe the charactor and the powers:
the cop: he can read minds. he first discovered his ability while searching for a missing girl. he heard her cries and found her. the FBI thought he was responsible for kidnapping the girl, because he knew where she was, but he later proved his innocence, and now is working with the FBI.
Niki/Jessica's husband: he was framed for a crime he didnt commit and was given a jail sentence. Jessica(the bad one) was responsible for the set-up. he has the ability to pass through solid objects, like walls, people etc.... he escaped from jail and went to see niki. he is the father of Micah.
Micah: he is the son of 2 people that have their own abilities. Micah has his own power, but the extent of it is unknown as of yet. so far, his ability is to "fix" things. for instance, he called his mom using a phone that was out of order. he touched it and it seemed to get fixed. I think his power has to do with technology, perhaps he can control it and make it do what he wants. I have a feeling that Micah will play a huge role in the series.
Sylar: he is the first supervillain. he wasnt born with his own power, he was a watchmaker. he learned that there were people out there with abilities, and he figured out a way to take their powers. im not sure exactly how he does it, but he takes their brains and somehow extracts their powers. sofar, we know he is telekinetic, has the ability to freeze people, he can either regenerate or just cant die, and he can either climb walls or fly, im not sure yet.
Radiation guy: he was arrested by the FBI after he killed some peopl accidently. he can generate radiation, at extremely high levels. he could potentially cause a nuclear explosion powerful enough to destroy a city, or maybe more. In the last episode, it was hinted that Peter petrelli, the guy that can absorb anothers powers, will take these radioactive powers. only problem, he cant control it, and he will be the reason for the nuclear explosion in new york city.
Mr. Bennett: he is claires adopted father. he is also known as HRG(horn rimmed glasses). he seems to be in charge of a top secret organization that studies these heroes. it is unknown right now whether this organization is bad or good. it seems bad, but he is also a good father to claire, and he does know about her powers too.
The Haitian: this guy works with mr. bennett. he has the ability to erase memories, and he may be able to neutralize other charactors powers. bennett and the haitian kidnap the heroes, study them, wipe their memories of the kidnapping, and let them go. the organization also works as a jail for bad heroes.
Eden: she can make anyone do whatever she wants. im not sure the technical term, but i suppose its a form of mind control. she can tell someone to kill themselves and they will. her ability is extremely powerful, and it could be deadly in the wrong hands. she works with mr bennett and the haitian in the organization. she had a big role in capturing sylar. she understood that sylar was evil and he had to die, so she went to his cell and was going to get him to kill himself. Sylars abilities were supposed to be neutralized, but he somehow broke out when Eden came to him. eden was going to give him a gun and tell him to kill himself. when he broke out, he was going to take her brain and her powers, but she shot herself in the head to prevent that from happening.
Honestly, if you havent been watching the show from the beginning, then it would be very easy to get confused. I understand what everyone is saying, how there isnt much of a story, but that isnt the case. the story is very good, but you have to watch it from the beginning. if you havent seen an episode yet, good. wait until it comes out on DVD, that way you can watch it all in order. I absolutely love this show. at first i was weary about a heroes based show, but the writers are doing it perfectly.

Something about Niki/Jessica's father is strange as well, if you remember when he gave his grandson a computer his demeaner was REAL NICE and soft spoken and when he saw the kid take the computer apart he became QUICKLY IRATE and mean (i mean yeah true most ppl would flip) but he went raving mad could it be...split personality or dual persons? ooooh - I'm with ya on this show - it totally screams great possibilities...

theres a new charactor coming onto the show. there was an online comic that introduced the charactor ont he heroes website. her name is hana gittleman, and she has a really cool power- the ability to see all wireless transmissions(emails, text messages, phone calls, radio etc...)
shes also the first "hero" with a hero name, shes called "wireless". her charactor has a lot of promise, it should be neat seeing her

I am so sure that she's full body torch - now remember these people are NOW finding out their abilities, but Claire's mom has had hers since Claire was a baby. I also think that Claire's mom started the fight that made it possible for her to go into hiding. As we can gather - it was all a set-up, my question now is - why did they leave the baby behind - bad bad parents!

Sylar is definately a super villian - that's gotta be wicked on the mind to once be a lonely and NOW have some power that freaked Sylar out and he decided to go to the Evil Side. Petrillie also has that power put he obtains it just by being near others. Sylar will be using Suresh to obtain other mutants powers - I like where this show is GOING.......
BTW, I am really starting to like the Cop - I am soooo on his side. He's got a great ability but is judged as a loser, I like him - I hope he turns out to be a leader of some sort........

i hope so too, the cop is really cool, i hope he stays on the show. i did hear that someone will be dying soon, someone that was in the opening minutes of the premiere....
i know that sylar does seem to be a growing supervillain, but we know that people have had powers for years, maybe decades or longer, so you would think that someone with powers would have been bad and tried to take over the world. then again, maybe they dont see themselves as being super, maybe they still have human goals. most of the heroes waste their abilities on typical everyday stuff, like claude stealing food or money(he could have more money and live well, but doesnt for some reason)
i think Hiro knows the potential he has and wants to be a superhero, claire doesnt think anything of her powers, she just tests her healing by trying to kill herself.
peter petrelli has a promising future, i hope he isnt killed off, id like to see him master his abilities, he would be awesome, and potentially the only one that could stop sylar, him or hiro.
Nathan Petrelli can fly, but i think he is content just hiding it because it would effect his human life. isaac has a good power, and if there was a justice league of sorts, he would be an asset, but he isnt that great without other heroes around him.
Jessica/Nikki is an interesting charactor. id love to know the extent of her strength and agility. i am not sure whether she is good or bad, but im leaning more towards her being a villain, because the good part of her cant use the powers, atleast not yet..
i like the potential of micah, he has awesome powers, id love to have em... DL is pretty cool too, he could have a big role, and i think he is good.
all i gotta say is that this show has capivated me, im completely entertained when watching that show, and i would really rank it up there with Lost.

Dude me too - I am sooo liking it and yes its definately top 2 (Lost first, Heros 2nd). It may be Claire's mom (foster mom) whom may be killed off cause seriously, the woman is just IN THE WAY don't ya think? She is a liability I see go. About Hiro he sure KNOWS he has power and can do GOOD for humanity. Hiro is a Hero 4 sure. Peter Petrelli also has a good heart, another person who may be killed off is the Visionary (Painter) he's powers are good, but can be short lived,
