Re :   KHAR ISSUES

It was with great astonishment and shock that the CKMR recently learned it was represented by KHAR as being one of several registries to be "absorbed" by KHAR. The CKMR had no knowledge of this nor was the CKMR approached at any time in respect to this action. There is NO WAY that the CKMR would ever consider participating in an amalgamation, absorption or co-operative venture with any registry that condoned inspections, found horses or clauses for color segregation. The CKMR will remain an independent Registry that preserves and promotes the Kiger breed.

Topic :   Visiting Burns

Hello all!  I am starting to plan our trip to the Kiger HMA - still working on convincing my husband to go with me.  This post is to all you locals and people who frequent the range - what is the best time of the year to go (I am hoping to go late spring) and where are the best places to camp with our horses?  Any info would be great, we are coming from 5 hours away and with 3 kids this will require more than your averge weekend camping trip planning.

Thanks for your input,

Topic :   SUNDAY OREGONIAN NEWSPAPER

THE MOST RECENT PUBLICATION OF THE SUNDAY OREGONIAN NEWSPAPER FEATERED AN IN-DEPTH STORY ENTITLED "OUT OF THE WILD" REGARDING THE KIGER MUSTANG.   IT FEATURED THE DOUBLE L KIGERS/THREE CREEKS RANCH IN WHITE CITY, OREGON, AND THE ADOPTION IN BURNS, OREGON.  IT WAS COMPLETE WITH A PHOTO OF THE WORKING KIGERS ON BETTY LINNELL'S RANCH AND DESCRIBED THE UNIQUE BREED'S VERSATILITY, BEAUTY, STAMINA, AND MAGNIFICENT MINDS.

IT WAS A WELL-PREPARED AND WRITTEN ARTICLE THAT COVERED THE HISTORY, DESCRIPTION, ETC. OF THE KIGER HORSE.

Re :   Kiger Adoption- Latest News

So who went to the adoption, what was the condition of the animals present. Where they true to the breed or did they have any problems. Was there many adoptors, how many horses were adopted, did most of them stay in the Northwest or were adoptors from all over. I saw the pamplet, did more of the young horses find homes, is there many left, where are they going to be sent for adoption next. I was very happy at the colored photos of each horse. Which one was your favorite and who adopted it, how much did the highest bid horse go for, which horse was it and what was it's biggest selling point. Overall were most of the horses of true type. What was your take on the adoption? Is anyone following what is happening with the horses to keep in touch and keep contact with them. They are part of the Kiger breed will most of them be registered? I wish I could meet everyone someday, until then I haven't heard a clue on how the adoption went, maybe everyone is out playing with their new jewell and everyone is too busy to fill the rest of us in who could not be there.
