Last week a bought a 1960 Gibson Melody Maker (not the 3/4) which I haven't received yet. Only problem is that the case isn''t original. However, I can buy a original alligator case which measures 39" on the inside. Is this case suitable for my Melody Maker, of for a 3/4 one?

Were the originally sold with a case or was it optional?

i'm sorry. but i do not know for sure the answer to your question, but i beleive your are right on the alligator case.
