Hi been a bit of a while since Ive been on this site!
I am planning to move my Luton body from a S56 to a S75.
The S75 is a tipper with a low ratio back axil and is 12" shorter in the chassis.
My plan, after removing respective bodies,is to lengthen the S75 chassis and to swop the low ration back axil from the S56, this would of couse mean changing the propshafts and extending the brake pipes, wiring etc.
My questions are 1, do you think this is feasable? ( I have access to a  crane and tools) and 2, could you help me with the decoding of the chassis N. of the S56 which is RB56AUIN2366 190865 2. I have looked at the achieves but have not been able to locate it, I want it for the wheel base and to check the rear axil ratio.
I hope that I have put this post in the correct place! if not feel free to shoot me! please bring your tools with you so you can do some work first

 regards regard Sebstar

 Hi

Anything is possible, my thought would be do you have to lengthen the chassis and move the axel for the sake of 12" ?

On my truck the truck chassis stops at least a foot short of the body chassis.

If you have facebook you should try posting there as you will get more response in the dodge50 group there as this forum has pretty much died now.

Hi Looking at the VIN it is a pre august 1979 chassis that has been used to build up this vehicle, the Chassis numbering was like yours up until August 79, a month after the 50 series was unleashed on the world but there were quite a few pre order and exhibition models made before the change over.

I know i have replied to this via email or facebook as i recognise the chassis number and I know i detailsed it then but for others here it is RB56 = Model A = Chassis cab U1 = perkins 4.236 engine, N2 = 4 speed gearbox 366 = chassis wheelbase in cm 190865 = chassis number ie number 865 vehicle build
As for the rear axle change it can be done BUT the s75 uses air operated handbrake, has an offset diff unit, you may be able to do a straight diff swop, only way to tell diff ratio will be either on a sticker on drivers door or remove rear prop section at diff end and look on the end of the diff spline where the ratio is stamped like 39/11 = 3.5055

Once again many thanks for your help. Having measured the luton body I wanted to put on the tipper chassis I have worked out it will be about a foot to long, Im working on the basis I can have a body overhang of 60% the centre to centre of front and rear axil! As pointed out it is a lot of work to lenthen chassis etc. This leads me to the conclusion that I may have to abandon the project and buy another lorry! I know wash my mouth out with soap. This leaves me with a Dodge 50 B75 with a working tipper to rehome, can I list in on this site for sale? if so where? anyone wanting details please let me know.

hi yes you are welcome to list it here, I will copy it and pop it on the facebook group, now is the time to sell and I might know someone who is after an s75 too.
Pity it isn't going to be the truck you use but hopefully someone will.  :)
Can you pop up a picture of the truck and maybe the vin plate to.  :)

RE:Chassis extention Axil swop
(Date Posted:11/07/2015 14:17)

Ok quick update, I have lifted the luton body off the 56 and swopped the diff from the 56 to the 75, tested it out and all seems good, Lifted the tipper body off 75.
My next tasks are to disconnect various items from 75 chassis build a jig and cut and stetch the chassis. The lay out of the chassis means I need to cut just behind the rear chassis/cab mount, I will need to use the front section of prop shaft from the 56. I will update as and when I have made progess. Any pointers alway welcome. Sebstar
