I just did a 25000 order last week and the price and shipping break makes them cost less than Hornady dealer price from midway. He also has a 5000  minimum per caliber for the 25000 break. I could still use some other calibers so may be able to help get your numbers up. On the 5000 minimum per cal he said he would work with me. Very nice fella to deal with.

To all

Fellas just a few things to keep in mind. Larry told me he would prefer to keep each cal at not less than 5K. Some cals have more than one size such as 40 cal which has three so each size would count as a different cal. Also 45 has two sizes one pistal and one rifle so again you have to distinguish. Also these checks are not boxed by the 1000 but baged by the 5000 so someone will have to break them down. I will have to inventory my stock and see what I can use.

Probably the best way to break them down into say 1000 count bags is by weighing them. Count out the first 1000, then weigh them, them you have the figures. I'm interested in some checks also. Let us know Bull.

To Starmetal and all

I am just trying to help out with what I have learned so far. It would be unwise for me to coordinate this from here as the increase in shipping to me then back down to all would be substantial. I have been ordering from Lary for several years and I have no problem with the 25K minimum for myself. I was just offering to help if you couldnt get your minimum numbers up. I would like to see everyone try these checks as I have gotten more and more dissatisfied with Hornady checks and these are so much better. Problems I have with Hornady are too many crunched checks in the box, uneven skerts, and a inconsistant or total failier to crimp on and stay on especialy in 45 cal rifle.

45nut and others, just so you know the Gator 40/41 check does not fit Lyman 41 shanks nor does it fit shanks cut for the Hornady 416.  The story I heard is that the 40/41 check was designed at the request of Walt Melander who was dissatisfied with the Lyman 41 check (who wouldn't be?) and that some of the NEI 41 molds were cut for the Gator 40/41 check.  I can also cut molds for the 40/41 check though so far there hasn't been any interest.  If anyone gets the notion to have a gas checked boolit for the 40 S&W the Gator 40/41 would be the way to do it.

Lyman 41 shank:   0.400" (tapered shank is better for lymans)

Gator 40/41 shank: 0.380"

Hornady/Gator 416 shank: 0.393"

For those of you with Lyman 41 shanks I am afraid you are stuck with Lyman checks, unless you want to try cramming on a 416.  I've never tried it but a Hornady/Gator 44 check should fit a Lyman 41 shank.  You would need a sizing die with a generous taper to squeeze the 44 check down to size without undue distortion.

Count me in for 5k .358s. When things shake out a bit, I'll help round out the orders on .258s and .308s.

Can we get .32 in there? I need a couple of thousand of them.

Might make life easier on whoever will take delivery if we do this in bags and half bags?

Yes indeed, Sundog and I need them.  We also need some 44's (I do anyway), 30's, 22's, 32's, 35's, and we will need 25's it looks like.  Probably we should come in last, because together we can make up a lot of difference in terms of 5K bags.  ... felix

Bull,

I'll take 5000 .45 caliber rifle checks for myself. I'm almost out anyway and that should be enough to finish me off!

Mike: After inventoring my gas checks I find I have more 25 then I need. Cancel the 25. Still want the 30 and 35. Could get more if it will help the group buy. I suppose at some point in time we will be told if we need to order more to fill the 5000 multiple for certain gas checks. ben1025

This is fascinating!

Good grief, guys, look at the SHEER VOLUME we're talking about here!  Individual members are wanting tens of thousands of various-sized gas checks for PERSONAL use.

Imagine the money involved if each gas check in these orders was a jacketed bullet instead????  And people wonder why we cast our own...

The figures show that we truly are a very active bunch of shooters, even if some of the requested gaschecks are for judicious storage for future reference.  Not very many rifleman EVER contemplate the volume of shooting that these gascheck orders indicate.  Goes to show why, when someone has a question here at Cast Boolits, there's usually someone with either the answer or some darned good hints on the topic.

I get a bit testy when my .30-caliber checks get below a couple thousand on hand, so I'll speak up for 5000 of that size.  I'd also consider helping get to the magic 5000 figure in .338 and in .45 RIFLE, if someone else needs less-than-5000 in those sizes.

What an interesting insight into our shooting habits.....

I have another kind of gascheck.  It's the check I write out to pay off my gas charge card bill.
