JumpI took my 22 mag out today to shoot it. I cleaned it first as it had be shot I don't know how many times. Also I found out I left the scope zeroed at about 70 yards. It was alittle breezey, but a nice warm afternoon. I shot mostly CCI 40gr hp's with some WW 40gr hp's.For those of you that don't know what I have here it's a Model 93 Savage stainless heavy barrel fiberglass shot rifle. It's wearing a 3x9 cheapo Tasco scope.Jump, I put an overtravel stop behind the trigger (molded rubber block that fits in the trigger guard) but still the trigger is just a cheapo 22 RF one. I think I could improve on the groups with a better trigger and scope. Also the rifle was moving around alittle on the bench, partly because it's light. I was surprised how the groups shrunk after seasoning in the just recent cleaned barrel.Joe

Joe,

It seems the longer I live, the dumber I get.......ie, CRS.

A good friend of mine up Vermont way called yesterday and said, I been thinkin' about your Daly.....check the magazine.

I thought...DUH!...the first thing I should have suspected. So, I grab the rifle, take a perch on the back porch and started my investigation. Looked okay at first, then I loaded it and smacked it home..HARD! Shit, the cartridges flowed into the chamber and then when I yanked the action open, it politely slung the loaded cartridge about 3 feet away. Huh....I'll be. Well, it didn't last....the next one ejected fine and then the last 3 failed to work. I squinted into the innards, cycled the action back and forth and have come to the conclusion the magazine is faulty and everything else is as it should be. So, if Daly will give me a new clip, I think all will be well.

Okay, in the meantime I was watching the starlings fly around looking for a place to nest. I hate them birds! I had the Mossberg 22 mag handy by the back door, grabbed it up but their telepathy told them it was time to vamoose, so I didn't get a shot. Then, a sparrow lights on the bluebird box I have up. It proceeded to run the cock bluebird off. Hmmm, the door slides open and the crosshairs steadied on that brown thief and POOF! Super X JHP's are very unkind to sparrows.

I didn't get to do any bench testing like I wanted, the orchard was screaming at me....it was 60 today....and so, the rifles got put away and the pruners came out. Now there is a PU load of limbs to be hauled away. I'll try to shoot both my maggers and post a pix......I'll shoot at 50 yards.
