Saturday was our February Sillywet fun shoot. Les Sawyer and I got the range set up by 8:45am and since the shoot was supposed to start at 9:30, I decided to test the .41. I used Joe's high dollar pistol rest and I am really happy with it. For particulars:Firearm: Dan Wesson 41 VH8Sights: Burris 2x7 set at 7x, BSquare MountsRange:100 yards, six shot groupsBullet: 215 gr RCBS, Lubed with Felix lubeLoad 1: 2400 17.0gr groups 7" 4" ave 5.5"Load 2: ww296 17.5gr groups 3.5" 2.0" ave 2.75"Load 3:ww296 18.5gr groups 6" 4" ave 5"I didn't have a chronograph, but I would estimate the velocity to be between 1050 and 1200 fps. I really want to go back to the 17.5gr load of ww296. I was shooting off of a picnic table. During the first group, I noticed that I was resting the base of the super rest in the space between two 2x12 boards. I feel like it might have recoiled a little different for each shot. Other oddball stuff. I was hitting low and to the left. I corrected for windage and elevation between the 2400 load and the first 296 load. I over corrected on windage, but the elevation did not change. Between the 17.5 gr load and the 18.5gr load, I again corrected for windage and elevation. The windage was perfect, but the elevation was the same. I can think of two explainations.1. I changed my grip between groups.2. Higher velocity loads have shorter barrel times and aren't affected as much by recoilLast observation: This is a keith style bullet. Holes in the target at 25yards looked like they were cut with a .410 hole punch, holes at 100 had the gray ring with torn edges and appeared much smaller.
