I know some of you are fond of the Savage Model 99, and there was half a dozen or so at the gun show today so I brought one home. I have no intention of keeping it. If I were still young and foolish, I'd give a lot of thought to rebarrelling it to .358 Winchester, but I already got more projects than I can handle. It is a 99, I don't know what letters go with that yet. It is .300 Savage caliber and it has the rotary magazine with the brass cartridge counter. Metal is VG, some blue wear, no gouges or rust. Rifling is very strong. Wood is excellent, appears to have been refinished as the steel (?) buttplate is a little oversized. It has a Schnabel type forend. Both sights are there and it has Weaver mounts, too. I'll get some pictures tomorrow and post them. I am going to sell it. Before I post it at AuctionArms, I will give people here a chance to buy it. I paid $275 for it. Add $25 for shipping and my lunch, that's what you'll pay. If I list it at AuctionArms, I'll start it at $300 plus shipping and I'd expect it to go up. No hurry, I'll post pictures tomorrow.
