I really enjoy my Dillon Square Deal. It cranks out enough .45 ACP (my most used cartridge) to keep my Gold Cup from starving. When Dillon came out with their Strong Mount and suggested standing up to use the Square Deal, they were preaching to the choir. I was already standing, but because I am very tall (nearly 5' 7"), I had to adopt an awkward stooped posture. There were three thing wrong with Dillon's innovation. It took up too much bench space, it looked springy, and it was priced at over $40. Luckily there were surplus (really) battery boxes in my employer's warehouse made of 1/8" steel. They were 5 3/4" x 8" 1/2" and 3 1/2" high, with no lid. Better yet, the 3 1/2" height was 6" on one side. By turning the box on its side, I had a 6" x 8 1/2" footprint and a height of 5 3/4". Four bench mounting holes on the now bottom, three Square Deal mounting holes on the now topand a clearance slot for the powder measure operating rod completed the mount. Dimensions can vary and still be useful for the purpose, as long as the height is enough to get the machine elevated and spare your aching back.Along with moving the Square Dealto a height that alllows a comfortable standing position, another very helpful accessory is a boolit platform. I have a vise on another bench about three feet from theSquare Deal. By screwing a piece of 2" x2" along the center line of a 1" x 12" x 30" pine board, I had a handy place to put my boolit tray. The two by two is held in the vise, with the board pointing toward the Square Deal, so that the boolit tray is perfectly placed close to the boolit seating station. curmudgeon

I used to have problems with high primers in my Square Deals. Called Dillon, and they told me I had to load standing up to get enough lever force to seat primers reliably. I knew damned well I was pushing the lever forward hard enough, as I had broken the toe off the casting on one of them. I switched to Federal primers instead, and the problem went away.

fourarmed,  early in my Square Deal experience, I had a lot of trouble with excess effort needed to seat primers.  I phoned Dillon and the tech told me to quit using CCI primers.  I asked how he knew and he said that CCI primers are larger in diameter and out of round, and for best results use Winchester or Federal.  I now use Winchester because that's what I can get cheap at gun shows, and they work like a champ.  curmudgeon

Let's knock down some of the big boy Demoncrat hero's.  For example FDR and JFK. New evidence of FDR knowing about Pearl Harbor before it happen and getting us into WWII has come to light.  Oh, CarpetmanRay, my source you say....The History Channel....as you will notice on the History Channel now they have a disclaimer at the end of the show basically saying that you the viewer draw your own conclusions to the material you just saw.  The straw that broke the camels back was that the Austrailian govt had wired FDR that the Japanese had set sail with a mighty floatilla of carriers and other ships and intended destination was Pearl Harbor.  The story went on to say that somehow the wire got lost in the White House and the U.S. military heard nothing of it until just recent.  There was more I won't go into.  As for JFK, oh  yeah CarpetmanRay, the source , a good friend of mine that's into politics, yeah I know not the kind of source you like Ray, informed me that JFK won the presidency through voter fraud in illinois, amongst other underhanded dealings.  Seems you can find alittle and sometimes alot of corruption in all of the them.

Joe
