Question Bull Shop:

If the Fat-30 is re-cut to the specified Hornady Gas check diameter, does this mean these checks will be to small?

If not I would like to add to the order.

Thanks Much.. :}

The inside diameter is the same as Hornady as they are made to fit the same molds. The material is thicker (outside) so when they are crimped in the die  they have more bite on the check shank. This does bring up a point I wanted to make but was kind of afraid to thinking I might stir up trouble. Sometimes things get bent out of shape from what was intended. Since were on it I will speek my peace. On the fat 30 return there is a good posibility the recut will be over done and no checks will fit on without punching them open. I have a couple molds that require this and I hate it. It is a pain and adds more time to the process. I realise Lee is under contract to provide these molds within certain specs and if they ruin the first batch will have to make good on it. In the end with the trouble of the molds going back and forth and then replaced they (Lee) may decide the custom market is just too much trouble and cease to offer it. I see these as very probible posibilities. We recently had the price increase on custom molds witch should tell us something, but at some point even more money does not make all the trouble worth while. Not wanting to cause trouble just pointing out some things to consider.

Well Heck... now I wish you would of spoke your piece. I would have opted to keep the mold as is, and used these checks if I knew that.

I spoke my piece on it, and right or wrong members of this board may notice I say what's on my mind, unless it would hurt someone, then I don't.

I was worried about them doing a re-cut and making em' to big overall.

Now what do we do?

There is also the posibility that Lee will get the rucut exactly right and everything will be just peachy Hopefully in the future they will decide it is better for business and profit to get it right the first time. If not we will probably see another price increase before too long.

Ok, put me down for;

2000 - 30 cal 10.74
2000 - 35 cal 9.50
1000 - 375 cal 10.74

If by chance any 6.5's would become available would be interested in helping fill an order for them.

I will add another 2000 to my order for .35 caliber checks, to bring it up to 5000. That will save you some hassle on packaging and such.

BuckShot--- I am not really sure how many i can get into a box ... but quite a few -- of course it depends on the caliber - but i would *guess* 3-4 bags (5000 each bag) of 45 cal  --- and lots and lots of 22 (5000 22 is less than 1/2 a ziplock sandwich bag - not bulging just flat!) 30 and 35 cal are by far the most popular here --- and i am guessing maybe 40-50 thousand in a package.... again these are GUESSES! with one exception, i don't think any one order from here, will exceed the capacity of these boxes...

On the 45 cal is that rifle or pistal? Remember there were two 45 cal checks shown as 45 and then 458. I have used the 45 on rifle bullets but they are not as tall as the 458 and do not seem to crimp on as tightly on rifle bullets being sized to 458" to 460" Let me know.
