Here's the deal with a heavy 7mm. 1) As a heavyweight it is too long for a set of Lee 6 cavity blocks. 2) It would probably have to go in a SC set of blocks 3) RCBS makes an excellent heavy 7mm 2 cavity mould (7mm-168. Mine drop at about 172grs) but it is a bore rider. The bore rider HAS to ride the lands to do well, at all. 4) Thinking was for a blunt flat nosed Loverin type (or Lyman 'Hi-Velocity' type).Number 3in this photo is the Lyman Hi-Velocity styleThis is my 8mm design.A kind of bastardized Loverin cum Hi-Velocity hi-bred. Lee makes a single cavity 135gr 7mm slug, which is a bore rider. It would probably fit a 6 cavity but it's short and light and has the bore rider requirement. Since the early objective was to fill a long military 7x57's throat and leade (including the worn ones) it kind of rules out a short bore rider. Lyman makes a 150gr RN Loverin. A kind of middle weight bullet, but it's 90% Loverin body can work well in both newer and somewhat worn militaries. The only design missing is the fat long heavy Loverin. If you were interestted in doing this, I would open a new thread specificly to see what people wanted. A Lee 6 cavity is popular but limits weight (via lack of allowed length). Or a fat long flatnosed Loverin type, which would require being done in a single cavity set of blocks. There may be some resistance to the single cavity. Yet it's the most economical mould. Checking Dan's (Mountain Moulds) it appears a 175gr 7mm is too long for his boring bars, otherwise you could get a 2 cavity from him for $70 or so. Unless you go to NEI or Hoch I'm not aware of other custom mould makers in a reasonable price range. Now if people WANT a short 7mm so it could be put up in a 6 cavity set of blocks, that a different thing. But that's not how the whole deal started out. Anyway, open a new thread and see what folks want. ...............BuckshotWell "Folks" let's talk about it!Captain
