Lots of folks seem to think if Weatherby name on it it's high quality. Once took a Weatherby Patrician shotgun in as part of a deal. The stock had been cut way too short and forearm wood was missing. It wasnt all that old,but the wood was not available and it was such a cheaply made gun it wasn't worth having the wood made. Cheap aluminized receiver with black(painted)finish. I gave it to friend that just wanted a gun to put under his bed.

Back about 1980 I owned 2 Weatherby rifles in 7 MM Mag. the German made on was as sweet on the inside as the outside. The internal parts were polished and afew parts were jeweled. I believe it was made by Saurer and Sohn. The other was a Japanese made Weatherby I got in a trade, the blue job was fair but inside the parts were rough as a cob. It was a lets get it out the door and get her sold job as compared to polish on the german gun of parts that nobody would likely ever see. That's the difference in craftsmanship. Just my $.02
