Does any one know if the strippers used for the 7.65 Argie will also work for the 7x57 Mauser in a '95 Chilean?I see some strippers offered on Auction Arms for the Argie. If the head on the 7x57 is the same size as the Argie, I'm thinking itcouldwork.I think, when under attack by the vicious "Whistle Pigs" commonly found on the Idaho desert, it would be kinda cool to reload in the same fashion as"el Soldados de Chile" did in days of yore.

Well, I'll tell you this. The 7.65 Argie has a different rim size and also the rim is thinner. I don't think the 7x57's will fit mainly due to the thickness not the diamter. The original 7.65 stripper clips I had were a very thin affair, very much unlike 98 Mauser or Springfields. Now I have notice that some surplus 8mm foreign ammo I bought, either Yugo or Czech, the clips are very very thin also. Now I know 7x57's will fit them cause 8mm's and 7's are the same head/rim size.

Bill, are you looking for stripper clips for the 7X57? If so, send along an address. I just might be able to help you out.

waksupi,

You have PM.

And thanks to all for not laughing too hard.  Some days there is just sort of a disconnect between the ears.

I get by with 1903 Springfield strippers in my 1895 Chilean 7x 57.  The little bumps that hold the stripper in the clip slot are in not quite the right place, but it will work.  The similar width of 1895 Mauser and 1903 Springfield strippers are further evidence to me that the 1893 Spanish was more inspirational in the development of the 1903 than was the 1898 German 8 mm.  curmudgeon
