I know the award of a CWSM is right and deserved....and every day we lose veterans of that historic victory that never received any recognition for what they did when their nation called. I, like I'm sure many of you, have had several close Cold War veteran friends of mine pass away....and the only recognition they get is a one sentence mention in the obit. reading "he served in the U.S. Army".
Anyway, I do think if there were versions of a CWSM provision in both Senate and House NDAAs, then at the reconcilliation process....maybe then it might have a good chance of passing because there would be no conflict bertween the two.
Gerald suggests we contact all of our respective Representatives and Senators which certainly we would need to do in order to get floor amendments introduced.
Does anyone out there also think it might be effective too to target by letter campaign (those written letters or postcards seem pretty effective to me because they go directly to the representative's office without the often used e-mail screen that allows only congressional district constituent contact) a few supportive Senators and a few select Congresspersons (not necessarily needing to be on the Armed Services Committee) that might agree to introduce such an amendment? Does anyone out there know who might be good candidates for a campaign like this?

The VSO's are not going to do anything for us. You might have a couple of congressmen and senators who might speak up for us, but that would be about all.
Let's face it, there are no past or current military people who will speak for us on the hill. Forget about Obama doing anything for us either. We all know how powerful the DoD is on this matter also. What we need is a miracle.
Sincerely,
Rob DeVito
