To everyone: I had to step down as chairman for many reasons. Health both physical and mental were
wearing me down. I have not been as active as i would like to have been.  This last year has been
a real roller coaster ride for me and my wife.

Many of you may have noticed I have not been posting much of anything lately. I felt it would be in the
best interest of the group if I stepped aside.

Things have been in turmoil in the group, and it saddens me to see what has come about. I wanted to
see us grow and prosper.

I do have to say that Scott did a lot behind the scenes and has worked hard to keep us going. I do not
want to fight and argue with anyone, and I may just have to fade away completely. I am just not in
a good place right now, fighting my way through it and hope to  come out into the sunshine soon.

I tried and I am tired. I really do want us to succeed as an organization, and reach our goals. We need
everyone to pull together. We need members to step up and join the new committees as they are formed.
Five or even seven board members can not do it all.

Membership is important and I want to thank each and everyone of you for being with us. You are all a
very important cog in the machine. Without you we are nothing. Please keep up the fight with us.

It has been a good three years and we have had some ups and downs, a lot of frustration with Congress
and DOD at shooting us down each year.  I wish we could have had success with the medal, but it seems
to get harder to attempt to push anything through. And with the budget problems it becomes even harder.

"And so the greatest of American triumphs... became a peculiarly joyless victory. We had won the Cold War, but there would be no parades."

Jerry:

Kudos, buddy, for your holding this organization together and always being there for the fight, showing leadership when it really counted. You will always be a friend as well as a brother-in-arms. In your new responsibility as membership chairman, we will all give you the help you need. I really enjoyed seeing you in Maine, and we move forward with new confidence that this organization will grow.

You really deserve a medal for valor for all you have done, and the leadership you have provided. Wish we had one to give you, but we can all say thanks. Look forward to working with you.

Hello Jerry.  Sorry to hear you about your stepping down.  I don't know about any turmoil in here as of lately, glad I'm not involved in any of that.  I do agree that some issues are just not worth the fight after a while, and that this thing with the medal seems to be going nowhere.
I went to Washington DC last week, just prior to July 4th, took some great pictures of the WWII memorial and Vietnam memorial, Iwo Jima memorial ......don't know how any of that benefits the U.S. government.  Lots of money to make those.  I wish our living veterans could benefit for a cold war medal, or maybe even a veterans ID card. Such a great wealthy country but screwed up in policy and decision making at times.  Good luck to you and thanks.
