If you go to the GLOBAL ENTRY web page, you will note that it is a program to expedite travellers coming in to the U.S, withought having to fill out forms for customs. They just go to the kiosk machine and scan passports, and avoid the lines. I don't like this for various reasons.1. If you pay the 100 dollar fee, good for 5 years, you go ahead of the line regardless of citizenship or resident status.2. Veterans are not given a reduction in fees or exempt fees for the disabled veteran that fought for this country and held probably more security clearances than the ones now going to the inteview process today.3 They don't take anyone that has a criminal offense, and they don't tell you what that means. DWI 30 years ago? Statutes of limitations? Convictions versus arrest? Not clear which leads to problem number 4.4. NON REFUNDABLE application fee. What? That means if you are rejected for this program you lose 100 dollars. Anyone have a crystal ball?I was thinking if anyone here feels the same way, maybe lets mail this out to some VSO's and educate them on what TSA is doing in the travel world. They are giving certain people that come in and get screened ahead of the line priveledges over veterans of the USA just because they are PAYING for it. This is not right and it should be an outrage.
