Title:Accidently deleted a catagory...help!!

I accidently deleted the General Catagory and I have no idea how to get it back. Does anyone have any idea how I can get this back without having to redo everything. It will take me forever if I have to start that category over again...please...any ideas at all.

If you deleted the whole category then there is no way you can retrieve it, maybe Alice can, pop the forum name and url up, you never know.

We need to be careful when deleting a Category but we do get a warning sign.
Of course there are times when we are absent minded.
Shannon, It hasn't been possible in the past to retrieve a Category that an Owner or Admin has deleted but I don't know whether that it is still the case. Good luck.

shouldn't the board be in the groups trash can? I"ve done that and got things back that way, hope that helps.

If one deletes a whole Category from the Categories page, there is a warning that it will delete all the posts and no, they don't end up in the Trash Bin. The Category, all Sub Categories and threads are removed.
If a Sub Category is deleted, only the threads that were in that particular Sub Categpory will be deleted with it.

Okay...thanks Babs...I guess I'll have to redo them all. The problem is that when I went to delete the catagory I made sure to read to make sure it was the right one and it was so I clicked delete and of course it was gone, but when I refreshed and went to the site the General catagory was gone as well. I know I didn't click to delete that catagory because we had a bunch of stuff in the on the General board. It just left me in awe when I saw it was gone...now, I'm afraid to delete anything else in case something different disappears. Anyway, I guess I'll get to work because I've now got lots to do.

I've already restarted fixing it Babs and I'm almost done now. Thanks anyway. Next time I will be sure to be 100% sure before I click the delete button...althought I was at least 99.6% sure that it was not the General board that I was deleting when I deleted it. Anyway, a lesson well learned...lol

Shannon.I'm sorry for hearing that your have deleted your general board and I have to say that it can't be retrieved.When you deleted it,there is no data in our server.I'm sorry.

That's okay Alice...I'll be even more careful now that I know it's absolutely impossibe to retrive a catagory once deleted. I was lucky that my daughter in law saved all the videos and pics we had on there, which in itself was a blessing. I've now taken printscreens of all the pages I have so I don't forget what was on them if anything like this ever happens again.
Anyway, we got back the most important stuff. The only thing we really lost are the conversations, but the way my family gabs we will have what we had before in no time...lol Thanks to all of you who responded to my dilemma so quickly...it was very much appreciated especially on that particular day...lol
