My guess would be anything you have stored out here on your forums... images, tags, email addresses, etc.

Just for clarification for all Aimoo Members ... this is the announcement being referred to in this thread:

http://forum1.aimoo.com/Aimoo_Help_Forum/Announcements/Server-Optimisation-1-2154986.html

i.e.

Dear Members,

Please note that all Servers will be optimised from 7th to 11th June inclusive.

During this period, Forums will be inaccessible some or most of the time. It is difficult to predict at what times or for how long.

Data will be backed up but you may like to save certain information onto your
computer beforehand in the event of unforeseen occurrences.

We apologise for the inconvenience but this will be a major optimisation. Thank you for your understanding.

Alice

Alice will be back online on Monday and shall clarify further.

Thanks MDBones & OzSparklz. I like the new name Oz :). I just backed up the member list to my only active group in notepad just in case. Pictures, tags and a few scrap kits I added to Aimoo. are already on my PC.

You are welcome IrishSparx ... your thread was a bit of a "Brainstorming session" about what we should back up in preparation for the Server Optimisation ... so that was good ... smiley7

Thanks for the compliment about my new Username ... feel like a bit of a "newbie" again ...

Have a good day

I totally agree with you SunnyLady, everything best be brought back up when they are finished with doing their thing. They need to have everything backed up.

Your right Sunnylady..I backed up all my members lists and their emails ..This had better not be an Armageddon...If Aimoo is going to be doing this Optimization as they call it ,then they should make sure everything is backed up First! Last thing we need is even more issues then we have right now  and more headaches for us ..So Here's hoping they know what they are doing

Yes, it is Their Responibilty to have ALL  Backed up, Not us...   Or more people will leave..  I already see groups moving..I hate it... Cause I love it here... And I don't want to move.. We are the Members... And if they mess up Our groups, that is Very POOR  Bussiness, I mean we couldn't even stay then, we would have to build all over again.. OMG...

So  I have 2 groups, and Nothing better be missing from them... Exspecially my Diamond group.. I pay for that... They Will have to pay me back if it is missing...

Here are my 2 groups...  The Diamonds and Pearls is Not open for anyone... Just a group I been working on in spare time.. But been putting alot of work into it.. Will open it up Eventually though...
But my backgrounds group is the Diamond group...

My reply got eaten. I will try again. LOL I hope Aimoo prunes the CP, dead and knock off product groups and unused names during the server optimizing. That will really help with speed as I see 100s of dead groups that have no business using up server space.

oh I really hope they remove the dead scammer spam and cp links forums, I don't think we will lose any thing just have to wait and see, I have been here when we did lose everything and we did get it all back, well 99% of it and that was a botched upgrade not optimization.
I have faith in aimoo, that's why I am still here. I could go elsewhere, I don't want to though, I have coming on 9 years of info / research / posts on mine.

I don't think much of anything will be lost either. But it is good to always have an up to date copy of members names and emails kept. Blaze, is upgrading CCG servers around the same time and I gather its a common thing to mention to save important things during maintenance of any kind just in case of unforeseen issues.

I am glad Aimoo is letting us know in advance this time around. That way we're not running around like chickens with our heads cut off wondering what happened

I guess another good thing for people to do is use a back up method for members to meet up, just like Aimoo uses Facebook as a back up to alert us of whats going on.

Hi Sunny I agree with YOU.  Why should we have to back up and groups? I guess if we don't our groups will be lost in Aimoo land like my previous group they can't find. Yes lot of members are leaving and going elsewhere without all the problems here and NO answers. I dread coming online to goups.

Karrier-- Cool 9 yrs, wow.. Well I hope Aimoo stays Open and I can say the same thing.. I came in 2008, had acouple  groups since then.. lol... Hoping to keep this one for good now...

But I am just so scared of losing my group..  And just saying that is would not be fair....

But I am Staying Carrier, I like it here better than anywhere..  I hate XXX's Layouts, I have tried that a few times..  And I am so use to Aimoo's layouts and using them .... I think I have tried them all now...  But still like Aimoo's Better.. So I'll just have to put up with some stuff I guess..  Like I told another lady friend group owner, I may grip, and get Mad, but I still like it here and going to stay.. hehehhehhe

But now this  Kittie Porn  has got to STOP.... It's Illegal for 1, By all rights those IP's of those XXX should Really be turned in...  I hate people like them... Those are the ones I want to meet in a back Ally somewhere..(-:

Dear members,Backup for optimization just a unexpected prepare thing.Firstly,Our department will try their best to keep whole data which is our duty and we have backup. But sometimes unexpected may happen,so I suggest to back up some important data.Secondly, back up is not the necessary thing for everyone. It's just for a rainy day which can't cause a chaos.
In the last, please trust and support aimoo just like Karrier and we take our member benefits into consideration in every decision, thanks!

Hi Sunny,I have been here since 2008 and hope to stay here too. Also hope to keep my groups.  BUT, there are major problems here with the servers, especially server 4.  Why do we need to keep stressing out, getting white pages, refreshing, photobucket takes forever to upload.  Yes Sunny I get mad too since losing my main group which lots of threads are still lost in Aimoo land. I just don't know anymore.

Help With: Optimization Important issues regarding Optimization: Computer errors occur when your operating system becomes filled with junk and important files get removed or corrupted. These types of problems are the consequence of not properly maintaining your system. If left unchecked these problems can result in critical system errors, freezes, and even a complete system crash.

I understand the need for Aimoo to run an Optimization to get rid of all the junk but what I don't understand is why the long shut down period unless you are going to do 1 server per day?? Since a lot of people are not computer savvy maybe someone can explain a little of what is going to happen and why the 4 day time table.

I am so hoping that you get rid of the 100's of abandoned groups.

Please humor me for a moment, all I want is clarity...

What is considered "important data"?

To me, important data is considered what my members have posted on our boards, the pictures they have uploaded, our graphics, or members list?  Is there a chance that our boards or how we have our forums set up will be affected by this?

I agree with my whole group being "important data" and I cannot back it up completely....secondly membership is very important and their addresses....even if I am not a paying forum.....I have formed friendships...long lasting ones....I have backed up the addresses....and I am putting my faith in Aimoo that all will be okay.

Dear members, now I know everything here is important to you."Important data" in my opinion is the thing you can contact with your members just like member lists and email.Actually our tech will keep data good for all of our members through this optimization.

No matter where you set up shop or even if you have your own domain and host, you should always back up.  I am certain that Aimoo will do all it can to preserve the integrity of its database as would any other host, but stuff does go awry.  You should even back up your personal computer to a removeable disk or medium periodically.
Obviously your most important thing is your members.  Setting up or designating a back up site is one way of going.  Having them all follow you on Twitter or Facebook is another.  At the very least copy down their names and e-mails and let them know what Addy you will be contacting them from so that their spam filters don't intercept you.
Pictures and graphics can simply be saved to your hard drive or stored at a remote hosting service such as Photobucket.  Critical posts can be saved by hitting edit on them, switching to HTML mode and copying the code to notepad.

Hi Terri,

They will be "up and down" at different times but you may get kicked off whilst in the middle of something, so keep copying as you progress. If it goes down before you post, you can paste it somewhere on your computer. I usually paste in Outlook as it retains its formatting and images.  In fact it might be a good idea to prepare a message on your computer first, rather than in Aimoo, then you could copy and paste it when the forum is on line,

It is not known exactly when Servers will be down and for how long.
